When I stepped onto the Nyenrode estate for the first


time, I embarked on a brand new life journey. It turned out
to be a journey that I was going to share with a party sailors
from around the globe, who came with the same aspiration
to create a better business world by using their minds
and hands.

An International MBA from Nyenrode is a powerful qualification in business that is rooted


in a powerful legacy. Nyenrode was founded soon after the Second World War by some of
the most respected companies and business leaders in the Netherlands. They shared
the view that it was up to government to rebuild the infrastructure of the nation and develop
appropriate policies; and that it was up to business to contribute to the development of
the crucial capabilities to turn business into the driver of economic recovery and resilience.
This initiative by major companies, business leaders, entrepreneurs and visionaries
planted the seeds of Nyenrode’s philosophy and values:

• Leadership is the capability and willingness to exercise influence and power


in ways that recognise and serve the interests of all stakeholders;
• Entrepreneurship is courage to drive innovation as the core of ongoing renewal
and resilient growth;
• Stewardship is acting in ways that ensure the long-term well-being of all

Participants are involved for one year in an intensive program during which they are immersed
in developing the managerial competencies required by business in the 21st-century. The entire
duration of the Nyenrode IMBA is used to take each individual on a year-long journey of developing
his/her personal authenticity in leadership, entrepreneurship and stewardship. This core element
of the International MBA is not about theory. It enables participants to develop the knowledge,
skills and attitudes that are required to reveal and deepen their personal strengths, define and
address their developmental challenges, and to embark upon a lifetime journey of personal growth.

The limited class sizes ensure that individuals do not get lost within in a large group, but instead
craft the critical interpersonal capabilities without which it is not possible to make responsible and
sustainable contributions in today’s world of work. The rich multicultural environment, where
typically a class of 35 people will have representatives from 15-18 nationalities, takes the necessity
of valuing diversity from the realm of the conceptual to the world of real-life practice. The unique
experience of living on campus for the period of the International MBA degree further deepens
