Cutler Hammer Diesel Fire Pump Controller

Battery Charger Calibration Procedure

These Brief Instructions outline the steps required to calibrate the battery chargers in
Cutler Hammer Diesel Fire Pump Controllers. Please read these in their entirety prior to
performing the calibration.

*WARNING*
This procedure should only be completed by qualified personnel

Prior to calibrating the Battery Chargers please take the following steps in order to ensure
that the Charger is out of calibration:

1. Ensure that the fuses on the battery charger are in good standing.

2. Verify that the negative ground is connected properly by running a wire from
terminal 11 in the controller to the negative terminals on the batteries.

3. If the problem disappears you will have to check the connection points of wire
11 at the battery terminals, in the engine control box, and at the controller.

4. Verify that the batteries are good by moving wire 6 to terminal 8 and wire 8 to
terminal 6.

5. If the problem moves you may have a bad battery and it should be replaced.

6. Verify that the battery cables are of adequate size, please refer to the
following chart:

Minimum Number of Feet(Meters)

Wire Size from controller to the
(AWG) Diesel’s Terminal Block
Stranded #10 0’ to 25’(7.62)
Stranded #8 25’(7.62) to 50’(15.24)
