Issues/ Challenges

1. Communication Issue – Communication barrier is one of the challenges that managers and
organization faces in a diverse workplace. Even when employees are using universal language
‘English’ still there’s a conflict or misunderstanding arising as a result of different colloquialism
and accents like American, British or even Australian English. Therefore, there will be more
conflicts than a normal working environment since the employees need more time to understand
and cooperate.

Solution – is to hire corporate translator or bilingual employee , hire people wo has the same
ethnicity with other employees to manage easy collaboration and boost team engagement. Or,
hire corporate translator because as a manager and organization it is also necessary for
circumstances like building global partnership and lastly, provide language training for employees
for them to be familiarize on the most common language agreed and used within the workplace.

2. Conflct on working style – people with different perspective and approach on working might
affect the unity of employees most especially during collaborations. Maybe they’re style to be
productive is not acceptable on their present job or work environment.

Solution - accept culture add and less culture fit, managers should be flexible on understanding
employees style on maintaining self-productivity within the organization. They should look on
adopting new self-improvement approach beneficial for the whole staff and organization also
avoid or abolish pressuring diverse workforce on fitting themselves in a isolated environment that
you as a manager or organization established cause they might feel restricted and unmotivated
by doing so.

3. Generation Gaps – Ages also affect the productivity and collaboration within a diverse workforce,
millennials or younger generations are easy to adopt on the arising new trend in the industry from
technologies to strategies while older generations are having tough time to cope on rapid change
of equipment and strategies. This also creates the so-called social circle which isolates old
employees from engaging with younger generations.

Solution – team building and retraining, allows different ages or generation to collaborate on
brainstorming and strategical team games for them to collect data about how ones work with a
current issue where they can adopt and apply during operations or decision-making events. Also
provides retraining for employees relevant to trends such teaching old employees about
automated technologies and how they work.
