Hydration of Portland cement. Cement additives. Natural and artificial aggregates. Water for
concrete. Rheology for fresh concrete: workability, segregation. Properties of hardened concrete.
Standard methods of testing. Non destructive tests. Creep, shrinkage. Quality control. Corrosion of
steel in concrete. Durability, cement aggregate reactions. Curing of concrete. Thermal properties of
concrete. Effects of fire on concrete. Special properties of concrete, concrete additives. Field trip.
