HISTORY OF APPLE
• In 1976, Steve Jobs co-founded Apple in his parents' home on Crist Drive
in Los Altos, California. Although it is widely believed that the company was
founded in the house's garage, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak called it "a
bit of a myth". Jobs and Wozniak did, however, move some operations to the
garage when the bedroom became too crowded.
• Apple's first product, the Apple I, invented by Steve Wozniak,
was sold as an assembled circuit board and lacked basic
features such as a keyboard, monitor, and case. The owner of
this unit added a keyboard and wooden case.
• The Apple II Plus, introduced in 1979, designed primarily by
Wozniak
• The Macintosh, released in 1984, is the first mass-market
personal computer to feature an integral graphical user
interface and mouse.
• The Macintosh Portable, released in 1989, is Apple's first
battery-powered portable Macintosh personal computer
THE APPLE LOGO
There are other theories about the meaning behind the name Apple. The
idea that it was named thus because Newton was inspired when an Apple
fell out of a tree hitting him on the head, is backed up by the fact that the
original Apple logo was a rather complicated illustration of Newton sitting
under a tree.
Later the company settled on the bite out of an Apple design for
Apple's logo - a far simpler logo design. These logos are
probably the reason for other theories about the meaning behind
the name Apple.
