CSA Group offers you six different certification options that are based on your desired level of

When you submit an application for Model
Certification, our most popular certification
program, you submit your product samples
along with the necessary technical
documentation to your CSA Group
laboratory and we conduct the testing at
our location.
When a product sample has met the
certification testing requirements, we will
issue the certification report and
Certificate of Compliance indicating that
you can display the applicable CSA mark
on your products.
Witness Manufacturer's Testing for
Certification
With Witnessed Manufacturer's Testing for
Certification (WMTC), products are tested at
your own facility, by your own staff, in the
presence of a CSA Group representative. Our
representative ensures that test procedures
are conducted correctly and results are
accurately reported.
Based on the results of the testing, we then
prepare a certification report and issue the
Certificate of Compliance for use of the CSA
mark.
Certification
Supervised Manufacturer's Testing for
Certification (SMTC) offers manufacturers
additional flexibility while still having CSA
Group involved. With SMTC, you do the
testing and prepare the certification
report, and then send it to CSA Group for
review.
We will examine the product, review the
report, conduct spot-checks to validate
the data and when all requirements have
been met, we issue the Certificate of
Compliance that allows you to display the
applicable CSA mark on your products
Category Program for Certification
Category Program for Certification (CPC)
gives you maximum flexibility and control
over how and when your product can
enter the market. You conduct the tests,
document the results and assess whether
the product has met the necessary
requirements for certification prior to
submitting the final report to CSA Group.
We review the report and if all testing
requirements have been met, we will
issue you the Certificate of Compliance
indicating the applicable CSA mark(s) that
can now be displayed on your products.

GLOBAL TESTING AND CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS
Field Certification
Field Certification is designed for
manufacturers and importers/distributors
as a one-time certification to relevant
standards for a limited number of product
units, 500 or less. With this option, a CSA
Group representative conducts the testing
at your facility or at one of our laboratories.
After the testing results are reviewed by
your CSA representative and the product
has meet the testing requirements, a
Certificate of Compliance is issued on the
spot. A controlled number of serialized,
adhesive Field Certification Labels,
containing the appropriate CSA mark(s),
are then applied to the product run by
your CSA Group representative.
Field Evaluations
Our Field Evaluation programs are also
conducted on-site and are one-time
verification programs for production runs
of 500 units or less. The required tests are
based on either U.S. or Canadian regional
installation codes. Additional requirements
may also apply and vary depending on the
type of product and installation location.
Though our Field Evaluation programs do
not result in the application of the CSA
mark, once the product has been
successfully verified against applicable
requirements, your CSA Group
representative will mark each product with
a serialized CSA Field Evaluation Label,
indicating product compliance.
