Accommodation is basically
the place where you stay in
another place in another city,
usually. So let’s talk about the
type of accommodation

A. TYPES OF ACCOMMODATION (1)


Hotel
A commercial establishment providing lodging,
meals, and other guest services.
B&B
Basically is a small place where you can stay and usually you
pay for the bed and the breakfast for the following morning.
So that’s way it is called B&B, B&B is stands for Bed and
Breakfast. So you just stay for one night and get the
breakfast the following morning and you just check out from
your room at the same morning.

Guest house
Basically a house where people can stay in that place for
certain period of time, not so much different from hotel, but it
is usually smaller because it is just a big house and they have
flight some rooms in the house for rent.

Hostel
Hostel is a very cheap hotel, usually for young people who likes
to backpacking.

Camp site
Camp site is a place where you can arrange your camping there
and then you can stay the night in that place.

So, these are the activities that you do in the accommodation service.

1 Check-in
Check in means showing saying that you are going to stay in the
hotel and you are
2 Check-in
Check out is leaving the hotel. So you have to give back the
room’s key to the receptionist usually and then you have to pay
the bill for whatever you have spent during your stay in the hotel.

3 Reservation
Reservation means you are reserving a room in a hotel in
certain kind of room for a certain period of time.
4 Vacancy
Vacancy is basically the availability of the rooms in the hotel.
So if there are still an empty room that the guest can use to
stay. It means they have the vacancy.

5 To Book
To book is the same as to reserve. To say that you are going to
stay in that hotel for certain period of time.
4 To Pay The Bill
To pay certain amount of money for the service that you get from
the hotel. It includes the room, the room service, the laundry, the
things and other kind of service there.

6 To Stay At Hotel
To stay in hotel means that you spend sometime in the room,
mostly for sleeping mostly or for doing anything else in the hotel.

A A Single Single room is small bed where one person


can sleep on it

B A Double Double room is a room with two beds,


usually it’s for two people.

Queen room is room with larger bed


C A Queen
usually for couple.

King room is also room with a large bed


D A King too but larger than queen room. Usually

it is for couple or a family.
D. FLOOR

It is important when you are in the hotel, usually hotel is


actually very high building. It has many floors on it. So, please
pay attention because in some countries, they have different
terms, different way of saying the floor.

1 Balcony, is in the outside, the exterior part of


your room where you can see the outside view.

2 Air conditioner

Bath is place that you can take a bath

and is the place that you can stay in the
water for quiet long.

4 En-suite bathroom is very large bathroom,


usually it is for family.

5 Internet access

6 Minibar is a small refrigerator in hotel where


you can get some snack or some drinks or
something else.
7 Safe is a place where you can safe a
valuable belonging, like jewellery or maybe
your money inside this box.
8 Shower is the way you can take a bath
while you are staying in the hotel.

House keeper is basically is the one who takes


care of everything about the room in the hotel.

Receptionist is a person who answers the phone and


helps guests or visitors when they arrive
Room attendant is the one who helps you with the room
service if you need service.

Chamber maid is the one who is responsible for your


bed or the cleanliness of your room.

Door man is the one who stand by in front of the door.


They help you if you want get taxi or something else.

Porter is you call bell boy or sometimes you call


bell hop is the one who help you with your
baggage if you bring a lot of baggage.

Fire alarm, if there is a fire there will a sound that


reminds you to keep you alert and get you to safer place.
Room key, is a key that you use to open the door to your room.
Room number is a number that show your room
Wake-up call, when you need to wake up early at certain time
and in this case you can ask the help from the receptionist to
call you for the certain period of time, certain time, specific
time and to wake you from your sleep.
