Reflective writing (250-300 words):

In this mini project I germinate my mung bean seeds by soaked it in water for 24 hours. After

24 hours when the mung bean seeds shows tiny whitish roots I transfer it into a container. I use

tissue as a growing media for mung beans. The uses of tissue as the growing medium are tissue

is pathogen-free and it can retain the moisture for mung beans growth. I used a container cover as

a pots for the mung beans from my observation the covers is not tall enough to hold the beans

hence it bends. After transferring the mung beans into the container, I observed the growth of the

mung beans for 7 days. Every 24 hours the mung beans length are recorded.

In this mini-project the phototropism and gravitropism are by far the most important and

widespread of tropisms. In some plants and organs, other physical stimuli, including touch,

temperature, and water, can orient growth as well. Tropisms allow plants to adjust the direction of

growth when their environment changes. After 7 days of observation, I noticed that my mung

beans grow slower than I expected. The first mistake is, because during the germination process I

exposed the mung beans too much under sunlight. Light play important parts in germinating the

mung beans but the growth in seeds was influenced by auxin (growth plant regulator). Auxin could

not work if it was affected by sunlight. The second mistake is, the moisture of plants, I noticed that

some of my mung beans roots dried it is because I provided little amount of water and watered it

once a days.
