A house is one of the most important things that any person can have. It is a shelter

that protects us from the sun, rain, and other elements. It is the refuge that allows us to rest,

relax, and unwind. More than the comfort and safety that a property provides, it is also the

place that brings family and friends together.

As for the rooms and spaces that are needed in a house, I think that we should

consider a man's necessities, conveniences, and comforts. Therefore, for a man to be able to

meet those considerations, a house is needed for a living room, kitchen, dining room,

bedroom, and bathroom. In many homes, a living room is considered an essential room in the

house because most people spend more time in the living room than in the other rooms

watching television or resting after a busy day. Furthermore, every house should have a

kitchen for convenience. It is a room that's frequently used to prepare meals for the family. It

must always be kept clean and should be disinfected after some time to avoid food

contamination. A kitchen contains sinks for washing area, cupboards for keeping utensils,

shelves for keeping maybe spice counters, etc. Most people also prefer having a dining room

in an area adjacent to the kitchen. Some dining rooms are more extensive, while others are

small, depending on the number of people living in the house and the available space. Next is

a bedroom, it is one of the essential rooms in a house. They can be located anywhere in your

house but in need of a well-planned layout. Lastly is the bathroom. It is an essential room

where one can take a shower and freshen up. Multiple bathrooms are also convenient because

it saves time especially when the whole family plans to go out.

An architect is a professional who is specifically trained and licensed to work on the

planning and design of buildings. The facets of an architect's role are as varied and

fascinating as their work; these are professionals who lead the process of creating functional
spaces, from concept and design to a full realization of those designs. Having that said, I

think it is needed for an architect to design a house for many reasons. Let us take for example

the viral "no-architect" remark of Ms. Loisa Andalio regarding the construction of their new

home. Many professionals in the field have expressed their honest opinions about the said

structure. A few of their comments was that the house seemingly maximized the land area

instead of allotting space between the house and the property line. The house also seemed to

have a narrow staircase and that the house itself is not aesthetically appealing.

There are a lot of reasons why one should hire an architect or anyone who is an expert

in the field. First on the list is that architects have a greater understanding of your needs. Just

by listening to their clients, they can transform their needs and wishes into an architectural

expression that also complies with building and city codes and the best practices. Architects

also deliver more interesting and creative design work, a better relationship with the site,

superior functional floor plan, and they avoid design errors. Because architects are trained to

provide creative ways to solve problems, preparing detailed and accurate drawings

significantly reduces design mistakes that could help clients to save more money. Not only

that, but a good design is also a profitable investment because architects help you choose the

right materials and finishes, integrates energy efficiency, and handles tough aspects of

contract negotiations on your behalf thus architects will make your life easier. While some

local regulations regarding architecture vary from city-to-city and state-to-state, most of the

points above are applicable everywhere, as architects are professionals with civic

responsibility toward the local community. Building a new house is challenging. You need a

professional with experience to guide you through the process and avoid any unforeseen

events, especially because the result will most likely affect your family life for a long time.

In designing a house, I think the concept of 'Utilitas" must be prioritized. In the design

process, one thing that we should mostly consider in creating a good design is that it must be
something that serves the needs and wants of humanity. So utilitas (usefulness) being a

building's ability to appropriately predict and respond to the needs of its intended habitants, it

only goes to show that it is accurate.
