DESCRIPTION OF TE SITUACIÓN

At the beginning of August, the Fenix investment management issued an internal communication

in-forming all employees of the importance of vaccination against covid-19. It explained that within

its Occupational Health and Safety Program it required it as a requirement for the continuity of the

current employment contract or future contracts; But the most important thing about vaccination

was our care, that of our family, our environment and that of the customers who entered the

warehouse. In this same communication they gave us the maximum deadline for the application of

said vaccine, was August 15th.

A week after the date that the management had set us as the deadline for the application of the

vaccine, four of the colleagues hadn´t complied with said requirement, the manager upon learning

of the situation became angry and called them to his office, it should be noted that the manager of

this organization is a person of strong character, authoritarian but above all he doesn´t apply the

skills that a person who occupies this position should have, he made a strong call to them and with

inappropriate words to address the employees , so much so that I touch on sensitive topics.

Given this situation, three of the coworkers immediately went to get the vaccine since they feared

reprisals in the termination of the work contract, which had already been exposed in the last

communication in previous days, but one of them who was the felt the most humiliated from the

way the manager spoke to her, at that moment she decided that she wasn´t going to get said vaccine

and that if they wanted to terminate the work contract, she had no objection. For a few hours she
was emphatic and sure of that decision, this person expressed that it wasn´t because of the order to

get the vaccine, that this decision was made based on the bad treatment received by the manager.

After a few hours and after having an assertive conversation with the other immediate bosses,

where they told him not to make that decision to think better of things since apart from being out of

work, an accounting process in which they had been working for already was stopped a time. After

a few hours of tension, the colleague decided to apply the vaccine and therefore continue with her

normal activities.

CONTEXT OF THE SITUATION

The INVERSIONES FENIX company, is a legally constituted organization, is located

Barrancabermeja city, the economic activity is the commercialization of motorcycles and their

parts, it has a work team of 19 employees.

In view of the global situation that is being experienced by COVID-19, it was specified that within

its Occupational Health and Safety Program, vaccination against said virus would be mandatory, in

this case the company emphasized even more on raising awareness to the workers that through this

vaccine we would achieve herd immunity and thus we would be able to stay safer and this would

benefit the entire community.

This information was taken in the best way by all the staff since it is a measure that benefits us all,

including the people around us.


The basis of the situation expressed above is due to the way the manager addresses his subordinates,

he doesn´t handle assertive communication when reporting a disagreement, the level of voice he

handles is very high, the words he uses sound offensive and hurtful and his way of being doesn´t

allow him to recognize that there is a better way of saying things, this causes situations of

disagreement and incompatibility to arise when he is present in the company, in fact the work

environment changes when he is in the company.

The actors who intervened in this situation were several, but it is worth noting the conversation that

the colleague had with her immediate bosses, where they spoke to her in a better way and made her

see how important she is to the company and they recognized her for the good work she did. is

currently playing.

ALTERNATIVES

1. Make good management of communication resources, based on respect, avoiding aggressiveness

and passivity, which allows us to have a healthy and effective conversation.

2. Motivate employees to improve day by day in their work, recognizing their efforts and

achievements. This allows for collaborators who are committed to the mission and vision of the

company.

3. Highlight compliance with the orders established by management and that are taken for the

benefit of the company and its collaborators.


4. Train all staff on assertive communication and coexistence, which leads us to develop in a

balanced way and build our personal relationships.

5. Find spaces for integration that allow to strengthen coexistence and teamwork, creating positive

work ties that lead to efficient and effective communication.
