About the NSM
Legal Basis Objectives
(a) promote, enhance, and instill nationwide

VIRTUAL REGIONAL EXHIBIT
TWG members will be asked to submit infographics
and statistical reports from their agencies.
These materials will be contained in a QR code
for uploading in PSA – RSSO I’s official social media
accounts.

Posters can also be installed in public areas


of the office, e.g. CRS outlets.

STATISTICAL WEEKLY WEBINARS
A weekly webinar conducted every Thursday where resource persons will be invited (from partner
agencies) to discuss topics on the importance of statistics as bases for policy decisions to address the
socioeconomic impact of COVID-19. It aims to show the relevance of statistics as solid evidence will
guide and boost the nation’s efforts towards socioeconomic recovery.

Proposed Agencies and Topics:

- DOH (Vaccination Statistics and How Herd Immunity can help our economy)
- DOLE (Labor Statistics)
- DTI (MSMEs)
- BSP (Digital Transactions)

GENERAL
GUIDELINES

QUALIFIED PARTICIPANTS

1. For Secondary Level, they should be enrolled secondary students (Junior or Senior High
School regardless of year level) while for the Tertiary Level, they should be enrolled tertiary
students (regardless of year level).

2. They should be the 1st placers in the provincial level contest (one contestant per
province). Incase provincial eliminations could not be conducted, the province can endorse
its official representative for the regional contest.

3. For the Statistics Quiz for Employees, the Head of Office can appoint their representatives.
The contest is open for employees with SG-19 and below.

DIGITAL POSTER AND SLOGAN MAKING CONTEST
Students are free to use any software applications
or medium for the digital artworks
with the ff. specifications: a)18 x 30 in; b) with 300 dpi
resolution and c) in landscape mode.

Slogans: Filipino for Secondary and English for Tertiary

Must be related to this year’s theme.

There will be a deadline for submission and judging


will be conducted virtually.

Online voting will be conducted. (Under Overall


Impact)

SPOKEN WORD POETRY CONTEST
• Pieces should be in Filipino for the Secondary Level, while
English for the Tertiary Level.
• Contest piece should be pre-recorded in video format with a
running time of 8 minutes. The piece must revolve around the
theme.
• The video together with the abstract will be submitted to the
RSC Secretariat on a specific deadline. Virtual judging will be
done. Online voting will also be included.
• Contestant who will exceed the time limit will be given e-
point deduction to the total scores for every one-minute
extended time.
• The name of school or province should not be included in
the delivery of the piece, otherwise, five points will be
deducted from the total score of the contestants.
• The contestant should be wearing appropriate attire.

VIRTUAL JINGLE SINGING CONTEST
• The jingle must revolve around the NSM theme and not with a particular
agency.
• The jingle should be in Filipino for the Secondary Level and English for the
Tertiary Level.
• Participants must record their contest pieces using videoconferencing
apps or other software, and a technician may do necessary edits to
improve the overall presentation of the team’s entry. There will be a
maximum of eight (8) members to include singers, instrument players,
and technician/s.
• Only original lyrics and melody are allowed.
• Teams may perform with an instrumental piece (minus one) or acapella.
• Subtitles which contain the lyrics must be included in the final edit and
must be placed at the lower part of the video.
• The jingle should run from 2 minutes to a maximum of 3 minutes.

VIRTUAL JINGLE SINGING CONTEST
• In addition to the video, the manuscript of the lyrics of the recorded
jingle shall be submitted to the Regional Statistics Committee (RSC)
Secretariat on a specific deadline. Virtual judging will be done to
determine the winners.
• All the video entries will be uploaded by the Secretariat in the PSA –
RSSO I Facebook page. The points earned in the FB voting will be
considered in the judging specifically under the Overall Impact criterion.
The entry with the highest likes (thumbs up emoji) will get the maximum
points.
• Entries which will exceed the time limit will have corresponding
deductions to total score of 1point for every 10 seconds extended time.
• Lyrics which mentioned the name of school and/or province shall have
a corresponding deduction of 5 points in their total score.

VIRTUAL ESSAY WRITING CONTEST
The contest is on the spot. Participants must join the contest via videoconferencing.

The topics will be provided by the RSC TWG members on the spot and the judges will select
among the list of topics. The judges are allowed to change the words of the selected topic
as long as the revision will not affect the original essence of the topic.

Participants must provide the technical requirements such as laptop, internet connection
and an extra camera or phone setup to document the working area to establish integrity.

The essay should be written in Filipino for the Secondary Level with a maximum of
1,000words (excluding prepositions/conjunctions), while English for Tertiary Level with a
maximum of 500words (excluding prepositions/conjunctions).

The contestants will be given numbers which they should write at the upper right-hand
corner of their entries. The names, schools, addresses and provinces of the contestants
should not be written on the entries.

The participants must encode their pieces using the Google Docs to be provided by the
facilitator. Each participant will be given his or her own Google Docs link.

The contestants are given one hour to finish their essay.

VIRTUAL STATISTICS QUIZ
Employee Level
Participants will join the contest via videoconferencing.

The contest shall have three rounds. The first two rounds will consist of 10 questions each with a score
of 1 point per question. The third round will comprise 10 questions which shall be given 2 points each.
A certain time limit will be provided depending on the question.

The questions shall focus on problems solving, general knowledge, personalities and current events
in statistics. The questions will revolve on advocacy on statistical awareness, NOT to test the
statistical expertise of the employees.

All contestants will go through all levels. Scoring will be cumulative.

All questions shall be in multiple choice format. Answer Cards (A, B, C and D) must be
provided by the participant.

VIRTUAL STATISTICS QUIZ
Employee Level

The Quizmaster will read the questions twice. The prescribed time limit will also be
announced two times. Time limit starts when the quizmaster starts the countdown and ends
when the time is up.

The answer board should be raised upon the signal from the Quizmaster (Host.) Failure to do
so will automatically discredit the answer of the contestant. The quizmaster reads the correct
answer and reads the answer of the contestant written on the board.

The participant with the greatest number of points will be declared the winner. In the event
of a tie, a tie-breaker question/s will be administered. The sudden death rule shall apply-
whichever participant who will have the highest cumulative store will be the winner.

Prizes for the regional contests, including runners-up, will depend
on sponsoring agency.
