as solution (which has one phase and uniform appearance): its nature, saturation,
solubility and concentration.
The solubility of a solute is: the maximum amount of solute that can dissolve in
a certain amount of solvent or solution at a certain temperature.
Solubility may be described as the saturation point of the solution at a given
temperature.
1. Nature of the solute and solvent – The amount of solute that dissolves depends on what
type of solute it is.
2. Temperature -- Generally, an increase in the temperature of the solution increases the
solubility of a solid solute.
3. Pressure -- For solid and liquid solutes, changes in pressure have practically no effect on
solubility. For gaseous solutes, an increase in pressure increases solubility and a decrease in
pressure decreases solubility
And lastly,
and (2) percent by mass, which is the amount of solute in a given mass of solvent expressed
as grams solute per 100 grams of solution.
