PAROL MAKING CONTEST


I. RATIONALE:

Bringing more color on Christmas Season, the Local Government of Plaridel, Quezon
through the Tourism Office will conduct the 2019 Parol Making Contest exclusively open for the
9 Barangay of Plaridel. Each Sangguniang Barangay may submit one “PAROL” entry for this
competition.

The LGU Tourism Office through this activity aims to remind everyone that this Parol
making is one of the so many unique Filipino traditions that should be carried on by the younger
generation. It is a part of our cultural heritage. When a Parol lighted, the Parol shines like a
beacon bringing back fond memories of our rich Filipino Christmas tradition.

This activity also aims to showcase the talent and creativity among the locals of our
municipality. In addition, this activity also promotes environmental awareness since the
materials that will be used in making Parol are indigenous and recycled materials and promotion
of material recovery program through creative production.

II. OBJECTIVES:

Participating in the said event shall be able:

1. Promotion of material recovery program through creative production


2. To showcase the talent and creativity among the locals of our municipality
3. To promote environmental awareness through the use of both indigenous and recycled
materials.
4. To promote our Filipino’s unique culture and tradition.
5. To create the foundation of unity among everyone in the Barangay.
6. To develop teamwork
7. To find a sense of pride among themselves
8. To unite to achieve a common goal.

III. CONTEST MECHANICS:

1. Parol must be of any shape or design. However, its base should be a 5-point
traditional star with tail.

2. Size should be 36 inches or bigger (measured in height, width or diameter)

3. Parol must be colorful and hand made.

4. Parol must be made of recycled and indigenous materials.

5. Lights are required. However, candles and live fire are not permissible

6. The criteria for judging


 Creativity / Originality 40 pts
 Workmanship and Durability 30 pts
 Earth-friendly 20 pts
 Visual Presentation 10 pts
Total 100 pts
7. Prizes

 1st Prize P 8,000.00


 2nd Prize 5,000.00
 3rd Prize 3,500.00
 Consolation 2,000.00

IV. Budgetary Requirements

The amount of P 30,000 is allocated in the activity, with the following breakdown, to wit:
