Green Buildings and Facilities

This course intends to introduce knowledge and
techniques in assessing, controlling, monitoring and
evaluating environmental qualities in buildings. The
use of IT in management of the environmental
quality in buildings and facilities will also be studied
and analysed. The local planning standards and
guides for management of green buildings i.e. the
BEAM Plus
CILOs

1.Explain the relationship among sustainability, economy and function of

green buildings;

2.Evaluate the bene ts, costs and the feasibilities of green building and
intelligent building adopted in new or existing buildings;

3.Propose green initiatives to enhance building e ciency;

4.Justify the impacts of green building design for urban design and healthy
community;

5.Evaluate the adoption of green building assessment schemes in Hong

Kong.
