WORKSHOP 1 : READY-TO-USE

ORGANIZE A DEBATE BASED ON THE VIDEO "INFOX" OF THE SERIES MÉDIATROPISMES

Take ownership and implement the ready-to-use Workshop from the Mediatropismes series.
You can find the link to the video here

Step 1: Let’s Get Started

Discuss disinformation with the group.

Example questions:
 Where do you get your information?
 Do you think online information is reliable?
 Which sources do you trust the most/least?
 Have you ever seen "fake news", which kind?
 How do you recognize it?
 How do you verify information?
 What emotions did you feel (anger? curiosity? fear?...)
 Have you ever reposted disinformation? (to make you laugh, to scare you, to make you look
good?)
 Have you ever tried to "counter" fake news? How did you go about it?

Step 2 : Play the video in its entirety

What do you think? Write down the spontaneous reactions of the students on a board…

Step 3: In small groups

Analyze the video ensuring that you use some of the script

Step 4: all together

Have each group report its thoughts on disinformation, the actors and their motivations, the solutions…

Step 5: all together

Make a synthesis of main points presented in debate.

Have the participants make a small note to themselves about what they would do. This note can stay
private or be shared.

 FACILITATION : Debate (being able to organize a debate)

The important point is to ensure that all participants have the opportunity to speak or express themselves,
at their own pace. A few techniques are possible:
 explain the organization and expectations of the debate from the start
 alternate between whole group and small group
 designate a group secretary, a delegate who will present the results
 give time to the small groups to build their arguments and build them collectively
 remain as a moderator (facilitator's role) rather than as an expert
