The history of relations between Britain and Russia has more than four centuries.

We paid attention to the attitude of Russian society towards European culture. In

this study we explore if the British influence was too strong that led to the
appearance of "Anglomania".

The timeliness of the work is in the exploration of the increasing impact of

English and American culture on Russian society in general and on modern youth
in particular.
The hypothesis is the influence of Anglo-American culture has a huge impact on
Russian teenagers.
Objectives: to establish the popularity of English and American culture in Russian
society, to examine the perception of culture by modern youth.

In Russia, more and more teenagers are members of informal movements ( for
example, skinheads …………………………………………..), so we consider it is
necessary to have information about this cultural niche and be ready to face its
representatives in real life.
"Skinheads" is the collective name of representatives of youth subculture, and
also a few its branches.
The peculiarity of youth subcultures is that most of them are focused on leisure
activities, information dissemination, the verbal channel of that is slang.
Youth slang is one of the components of the development of the language, its
replenishment, its variety . After all, language cannot develop on its own. It
absorbs other languages through communication in our increasingly technical age.
A special place in the formation of value orientations of young people belongs to
musical culture. Music belongs to the number of arts that are capable of affecting
the entire psyche of a person, his self-consciousness and his state of health. A huge
contribution to the British musical culture was made by such groups as: The
Beatles and Magnum. But nowadays are very popular Hollywood Undead, Twenty
One Pilots, Imagine Dragons.
It is interesting that cinematograph occupies a unique place in the modern world,
accordingly in human life. It is a whole social institution. It affects the life of
society, forming the consciousness of a viewer. It is impossible to notice the
influence of modern cinema on the language of communication. It is quite natural
that the lack of control of the film industry, the inaccurate delivery of information
to a different age audience, adversely affect the formation of the spiritual and
moral values of the younger generation. After all, if you pay attention to the
modern films, you can easily notice that profanity is used almost every minute. The
usage of such vocabulary affects the culture of speech of the younger generation.
The appearance of the Internet became a kind of breakthrough in the field of
information technology and programming. The interconnection of the computers in
a single network (the Internet) supposed the exchange of knowledge and skills
between users from different countries. It was necessary to develop a simple and
convenient system, understandable to every Internet user. So, the appearing of
specific language (Cyber English) could simplify the establishment of contact
between users. Nowadays our speech is full of a large number of new words.
Many popular acronyms of the English language finally migrated to coherent
Russian speech, and many acronyms are rarely translated verbatim.
Both "LOL" and "IMHO" are now being written in Russian transliteration. . This
fact may indicate an imperfect knowledge of the language. It can be also "the
principle of social proof", described by the American psychologist Robert Cialdini
in the book "Psychology of influence". According to Cialdini, people are addicted
to trust to the opinion of majority. So, the usage of Cyber English in the Internet
may not always be the result of poor vocabulary or haste. It is rather the aim to
show their knowledge among their peers.
We cannot say that only music, clothing, cinematograph and language influence
the Russian youth society. Food culture makes a huge role in the lives of
adolescents and people in general. The number of McDonald's restaurants is
increasing every year and currently makes 360 restaurants throughout the Russian
Federation, hamburgers have become a favorite dish of the average citizen.
Fast food is very dangerous for people's health, and especially for the younger
generation. Nevertheless, we continue eating unhealthy food.
In order to explore the popularity of English and American culture in Russian
society, we took a poll among teenagers of Gorlovka. Our respondents were
students of the 9th and 11th grades, who have a good command of the English
language.
So, for example, the question "How often do you use Cyber English ?" All
respondents say they use it every day during a conversation with each other, in
correspondence and even in writing essays. As for music, answering the question
"What genre of music do you prefer?" 75% of the students say that their audio
records are dominated by rap. 45% of respondents consider that our culture is
worsening because of the influence of other countries, while the remaining 55%
insist that there is nothing wrong with adopting "fashion and novelties".

To draw the conclusion, we have proved hypothesis: the influence of Anglo-

American culture has a huge impact on Russian teenagers. We defined the concept
of Anglomania as a process based on the desire to use the opportunities of other
countries and impose their vision of the world on them. As a result of this process,
there is a transformation of the culture to which this influence is directed.
