Physical laziness
 Refuse to do anything else but watch TV all day -> become a bad habit
 Likely to overweight because the children burn fewer calories, do less activities
and just simply sit silently and do nothing
 Connection between TV time and obesity in kids
Violent behaviours
 Watching television for more than two hours a day can have behavioral problems
 Risky behaviors on programs and commercial can affect the child’s action. They
tend to imitate what they watch on TV
 Encouraging violent and aggressive behavior in some kids
A distorted view of the world to children
 Movies and other television shows may exaggerate reality and create extremely
violent scenes online, which may be terrifying for kids.
 Violence and guns used on TV may give the unsafe impression about the world
Bad influence on children’s development
 Steal time for activities in real life like interacting with family, siblings, playing with
friend or developing important skills ( communication, creativity, language, social
skills, and so on )
 Distracted from their study, affect their performance at school

Group 3
- Poor eye sight:
+ Make children eye’s tired and hard work.
+ Face the risk of getting some eye problems like short-sighted, nearsighted,
especially when watching in the dark.
- Violence behavior:
+ Influence children by becoming aggressive, afraid of the world that surrounds
them, or may lead to confusion.
+ Alter the brain structure and have negative behaviour
- Physical laziness:
+ Not be willing to play outside and they are more likely to be overweight.
+ Can lead to health problems later on when now they have such a lazy and
passive lifestyle.
- Own idea: Lack of social development:
+ Less or no interaction with their friends and people surrounding.
+ Affect their knowledge and understanding of social interactions and behavior.
Group 4
Poor eyesight:

First of all, poor eyesight is one of the most common consequence of watching TV too frequently

· Leads to eye defects such as short-sightedness, long-sightedness, astigmatism, …

· Causes difficulties in studying at school and daily life
o Daily life: children are often active and playful → it will put children to inconvenience if
they have to wear glasses
o Schooling: they have to sit near the board in order to see clearly, or else, their myopia will
gain → however, those children who are taller than the others in class can only sit at the
back.

Physical laziness:

In addition, TV shows reduces the amount of physical activity in children. Sometimes, they refuse to do
anything else but watch TV all day.

 Lack of proper physical activities and too much screen time can lead to health risks like eye
defects and heart disease, …
 Researchers have also indicated that there is a direct connection between TV time and obesity in
kids.

Violent behaviors:
Children do learn behaviors from TV, which is mostly a good thing, the problem is that kids and some
adults, don’t have the skill needed to contextualize TV violence:

 In most superheroes' movie, "good guys" beating up "bad guys" gives a message that violence is
normal and okay.
 In a household where the adults deal with issues violently, violent TV content then reinforces that
behavior, making it worse

Your own idea:

1. TV viewing may promote alcohol and smoke use

 Alcohol is increasingly advertised during programs that young people are more likely to watch
than people of legal drinking age
 Even though tobacco ads are banned on TV, young people still see people smoking on programs
and movies shown on television.
2. Watching TV at an early age have an effect on children's brain development.
 When children are exposed to TV too much, their creative thinking ability can be paralyzed.
 Be limited knowledge of real world.

Group 5

- Poor eyesight: Watching TV too much could hurt your children’s eyesight.
+ cause eyestrain and fatigue, particularly for children sitting very close or fastening their
eyes on TV
-> This couldn’t do any physical harm on their eyes immediately; but if they keep
watching TV too much for a long time, their eyesight must be poor sooner or later. (cause
& effect)
+ the child experiences blurry or reduced vision that is not correctable by glasses or
lenses

- Physical laziness: TV may prevent kids from being active. I mean, it cause physical
laziness.
+ promotes a lack of exercise and a sedentary lifestyle, both of which impact the heart
and the brain. (example)
Ex: A study published in the International Journal of Cardiology shows that children
of two to ten years who watch TV for more than two hours every day have a 30% higher
risk of suffering from high blood pressure, compared to children of the same age who
spend less time watching TV, which could lead to cardiovascular problems later in their
life.
+ children can get bad impacts on mental health (cause & effect)
They spend hours sitting in front of TV and often snack on junk food such as donut, ice-
cream, fried fast food, etc. which are high in calories. Also, they are not running, jumping
or doing exercises that burn calories and increase metabolism.
- Violent behavior: TV exposes your kids to negative influences and violent behaviors.
+ Tv shows and commercials usually show violence, alcohol, drug use, etc. which kids
can copy because they don’t know what’s good or bad for them.
+ It may even encourage violent and aggressive behavior in some kids, which can be
detrimental to their social development.
- Lack of social skills: Children who spend too much time in front of the television may
miss out on life’s opportunities.
+ A child learns a lot mor effectively from real interaction with people and things outside
rather than things he sees on a TV screen. (Contrast)
Ex: My little cousin who just 4 years old is extremely addicted to TV or videos from
Youtube. He just sits in front of TV all day and doesn’t talk to anyone.
+ TV eats away the time they get to interact with other children, which may affect their
knowledge and understanding of social interactions and behavior.
Group 6
Poor eyesight: They may suffer from being short-sighted if they exposed to TV to
much
+ They tend to stand close -> their eyes are tired
+ It can cause blindness
- Violent behaviours: TV exposes children to violent behaviours
+ TV has fewer educational TV shows than before => Children can not acquire
much knowledge
+ TV tends to show violence, drug, sex, conflict, .... => negative things
=> affect how they see the world, shape their thinking
+ Children may mimic dangerous activities on films, on cartoons,...
- Physical laziness: Watching TV as a young child makes children get obese easily
+ They spend a lot of spare time on TV screen -> not outgoing, sitting all day
+ They tend to consume more unhealthy snacks
- Cognitive ability affection: TV influences badly on kids’ cognitive ability
+ Less reading, watching more -> not broadening their mind
+ Less social interact -> becoming passive, less active, outgoing people -> getting
weak soft skills
- Studying affection: Children watching too much TV hardly pay attention to their
studying and tend to procrastinate their homework.
Group 7
 POOR EYESIGHT
One of the most negative impacts of TV on children that I want to mention is poor
eyesight.
+ Some research has shown that if children watch TV in a long period of time, it may
cause some eye problems such as eye strain, dry eyes and blurry eyes.
+ In addition, long hours in front of TV also lead to tiredness which might create
headaches in children.

 VIOLENT BEHAVIOURS
Children who spend too much time on TV can have behavioral problems.
+ If parents do not figure out what TV shows or programs are appropriate for their
kids, they can imitate whatever they see on screen such as aggressive and violent
behavior of film characters, dangerous actions in advertisements, etc.
+ Unhealthy contents can cause bad effects on their behavior development because
they can become disobey or have misbehavior towards their parents or people
around them.

 PHYSICAL LAZINESS
Being addicted to TV can make children can make children become lazier to take
part in physical activities.
+ In children’s views, TV is the door opening to an ideal world with the brave
heroes, pretty fairies, princes and princess, etc. This is the reason why children
prefer immersing on TV to going outside - the real world.
+ The children who are addicted to TV spend most of their space time lying on the
sofa with a remote control on hand. They set outside activity aside because they do
not have any more time for it.

 NEGATIVE IMPACTS ON BRAIN’S DEVELOPMENT

A lot of detrimental impacts might affect directly on a child's brain development
due to prolonged TV viewing.
+ Changes the structure of a child's brain: the more television a child watched, the
more brain areas were changed in a negative way.  Antisocial behavior and
psychological disorders tend to increase in children who watch too much TV.
+ Lower cognitive abilities related to reading skill: Reading requires much more
thinking compares to television and reading also fosters children’s healthy brain
development.
+ It also contributes to sleeplessness and attention reduction to children.

Group 8
Watching tv are now become a part of our daily life. It plays an important role in
entertainment, learning, teaching, giving news, and so on. But do you know how
bad it affect to your kids?
Firstly, they might get poor eye sight:
Watching tv too much can lead to poor eye sight. Kids who spend more than 2 to 3
hours a day in front of the screen can suffer from the light of tv screen. They are at
the risk of developing poor eye sight. It reduces the vision and that may not
correctable by glasses or lenses. Their eyes become weaker and consequently they
may wear glasses.
The second problem is physical laziness:
Another bad impacts of tv is the less physical activities in children’s daily life.
Many children spend a lot of time on watching their favourite cartoons or series in
stead of taking part in outdoor activities. This bad habit can ruin your children
health. A lack of exercise can lead to obesity and eventually face to some other
dangerous diseases like: heart diseases…
Thirdly, they might have violent behaviour:
Watching too much TV can alter the brain structure and promote negative
behaviour – especially violence and aggression. Kids who watch shows containing
content inappropriate for minors are at a higher risk of this problem.
Own ideas: Lack of Language and Social Skills:
Spending too much time watching TV can limit your child’s social interaction, thus
affecting language and social skills in the long run.
If your child is spending too much time watching TV, he may lose precious time
which could have been spent on more productive tasks like mingling with friends,
working on homework, playing outside and other similar activities.
=> Kids need a better environment to learn and improve their living skills. Parents
should pay more attention to their child, don’t let them watch TV too much and
celebrate outdoor activities for them.
Group 9

can damage their eyes, cause some visual impairment , sleep deprivation
A rising number of children wear glasses at very young age

TV programmes are so attractive, colorful images catch too much children
attention so they refuse to participate in any outdoor sports or activities
Sedentary lifestyle can lead to severe health problems: obesity, diabetes, certain
types of cancers

Children who are in the state of puberty can easily imitate the violent action of the
actors
Gradually forming their personality
+ Own ideas

They will lack of some essential skills for their future career like communication
skills, social skills
Some severe mental problems: depression, social isolation,...
