(1200mm diameter bored pile)
METHOD STATEMENT FOR MAINTAIN LOAD TEST USING ANCHOR REACTION SYSTEM
FOR 1200 MM DIAMETER BORED PILE TO MAX TEST LOAD 19700 KN (1970 TONS).

Introduction.

A Loading Test on a pile is made for the purpose of finding the settlement to be expected at the
working load and at twice the working load. It could also be used to estimate ultimate bearing
capacity of a pile and checking the structural soundness of the pile.

Method of loading: We propose to use tension reaction system with means of a

Hydraulic jack to be used to obtain its reaction from tension pile.

Clause 7.5.5.2 b) Pg 105 8S8004 1986

Setting for test.

a) Two (2) nos of anchor pile (working pile) of 1200mm will be installed to depth with socket
min.B.Om into sound GRANITE (bedrock). Design of socket length for geotechnical
capacity appended.

b) Reinforcement for tension pile will be 34T32, binder T12 @ 150 clc with 80 nos 15.24mm
(0.6") super strand will be tied to reinforcement of main bar for each tension pile with
embedment length of 5.0m into concrete with addition of 6.0m above the ground level.

c) The Tension Pile will be away from the Load Test pile by 3.00m and positioned in a
straight line.

d) Upon completion of boring to required length, reinforcement cage tied with 80 nos of
strand will be lowered into bored hole. Pour concrete G35 as specified.

e) Two supports will be used as seat to launch I-beam. I-beam will act as a transfer element
of load applied by jack (reading by load cell) to the tension pile. Strands on each tension
pile will be locked by barrel and wedges in a stressing block placed on top of I-beam.

f) The settlement of pile will be monitored by 4 nos of LVDT instruments by Spectest and
ruler on jacks by using dumpy level. 2 nos ruler will be provided attached to the frame and
one ruler at temporary bench mark. Scale ruler will be provided at tension pile to monitor
uplift of pile.

g) Reference frame should be supported on two foundation placed sufficiently far from the
pile not less 2m away. The foundation should be placed at sufficient depth below ground to
be unaffected by any movement.

MLT on 1200 mm diameter INSTRUMENTED BORED PILE

h) Calibration certificates on jacks and gauges shall be submitted to supervisory personnel
prior to test.

i) Test load will be carry out based on loading procedure appended and on completion of
load test graph showing load and settlement versus time will be produce.

A = 3.14 *17 *17/4 = 226.87 in2

Ramp area for 1000 tons jack = 17.0 in.

Assume force of 1 tons = 1000 kg.

Force in Ibs = 1000 * 2.2041b =- 22041bs (i.e eq. to 1 tons)
