Test III. Essay

1. Integrating your experience with the concepts discussed in the lesson

abut stages of adolescence, how will you describe this period of
development?

There’s no such development in oneself when adolescence period has happened in a

certain girl or boy. It is the transformation of oneself from childhood to adulthood. For my
self experiences about my adolescence period, it was a bit cringe to me that time and I did
not take it seriously. I remembered during my first period; I already knew that I have a
blood leaked because of my menstruation. I knew that time what to do but I am adjusting
and examining what was happening on my body. In addition, I observed that physical
changes started to develop like enlargement of breast, growing underarm and pubic hair,
and my hips get wider. Also, intellectual changes developed on me like I knew how to reason
out and can think that time what will I reason out to my parents if I did a wrong thing.
Furthermore, as I discussed on my autobiography, my social and emotional development
has a great impact on my high school life. It changes me a lot. Improving social skills is not
bad but if it too much, life of a child may affect and can lead to a messy life. I will describe
the period of development like it was like a roller coaster because many challenges may
overcome. Sometimes it is happy, but sometimes it makes you sad. Also, it is the period of
search for identity and I must say that during adolescence period, it was hard to search what
goals or interests may fit to an individual especially if that child doesn’t have any goal on
his/her future.

2. Choose (3) Learner Centered Psychological Principles and give reflection

for every Principle.

 Principle 9- Effects of motivation on effort

In this principle, Educators should exert effort on learning strategies to motivate

learners. Hence, in this principle, educators should exert extra effort to have a good result in
teaching, also, educators must set on their mind before teaching that their learning goal
strategies is to make students reflect on the lesson that will be discussed in order to
motivate them. Example of this, our teacher in Science during my junior high exert an effort
by operating a movie that is related on our topic. By that learning method, students can
clearly understand what was the topic and they can give a reflection on that scenario.

 Principle 10- Developmental Influence on learning

In this principle, Educators must ensure children’s difference form of development. Why
is this so? It was discussed from the module that there were 14 difference form of
development. Not all children are equal. It needs an extra understanding and examining
each student’s differences. Children cannot adjust at this situation, so that educators must
ensure children’s self-identity like age, health status, interests, and developmental level.
Example of this, during my high school days I have 3 classmates who always wear eye
glasses because their eyes had problems like far sighted and near sighted. Thus, our teacher
adjusted that time. She enlarged fonts on her lessons and far-sighted students allowed her
to sit in front and she always make sure that all of her students can read and comfortable in
the classroom.

 Principle 13- Learning and Diversity

In this principle, Students has different ethnicity, beliefs, language, and socioeconomic
status so that educator must be careful regarding this matter. In one classroom, students
have different status in life, beliefs, religions, culture, and so on. Thus, educators should be
careful in sharing ideas regarding this matter. Especially on religion matter, it is a serious
matter to everyone and it we should respect every religion. Example of this, our Values
teacher during high school was very responsible and always sensitive on her lessons that’s
why I love my teacher that time. She respected all her student’s beliefs and respected.
Whenever there was a situation regarding on different religions, she explained it clearly and
teaches us to respect everyone’s religion and be still great if anyone offended us.

3. Enumerate and Explain the individual differences.

1. Physical Differences – the physical appearance of each individual such as,
color complexion, height, weight, hair variation; curly/straight, nose variation;
pointed or flatness, and including skin types for face like acne-prone, normal,
sensitive, or dry.
2. Intelligence- Children has different intellectual capabilities like some are fast
learners and some are slow learners, and some are in middle.
3. Aptitude- It is the ability of students to do something. They are not equal
regarding this. Some has high level of aptitude like interests in doing high
thinking ability but some students have low aptitude or simple interests that may
lead to small results too.
4. Age- younger learners has high curiosity to learn, while older learners has low
curiosity to learn.
5. Motivation- Each learner has different kind of motivation depending on their
goals and interests. Some students are motivated because of high salary, some are
motivated because it was their passion or hobby, and others are to fulfil their
parent’s wants.
6. Personality- there are different type of personality a child has. Like for girls,
their personality depends on their mood sometimes. Others are depending on the
situation they have encountered, and so on.
7. Difference in achievement- learners have different achievement abilities.
Example of this is during mathematics session. Some students can answer the
math problems easily because it was a nature to them of being good in math.
Some learners depend on their past experiences like giving effort on studying
mathematics so that they can apply it in the present. Other learners depend on
their achievement because of their interests and educational background on a
certain matter.
8. Prior knowledge- Learners have different prior knowledge depending on their
educational background, life experiences, and the social influences affects their
prior knowledge. It will affect their learnings because they will depend on their
prior knowledge by answering lessons on a certain topic.
9. Learning Style- learners have different learning style or study habits. Some
learners want music when studying, some are without music or any noise, some
need motivation like prizes or snacks, some learners wants to read on their
gadgets but some prefer reading on papers or hard copies. Many different study
habits that the students prefer.
10. Differences in motor ability- learners have different kind of motor
abilities like others can perform these tasks, while others cannot. Some students
may good at this, but some are not good at that. Performing a task may hard to
some, but they are good at paper works.
11. Attitude- learners have different attitudes towards different people, things,
environment. This is because some students had experienced negative on that
thing. For example, the attitude of this child towards his one of his teachers is
rude and not good. Why was this happened? It is because the child experienced
on that teacher a misunderstanding in the past and the child offended that much.
So that, attitudes of child towards to others sometimes depend on the past
experiences had happened.
12.Environment- the environment has a greatly affects the learnings of the
students. It much better that educators should ensure learners to have
comfortable study area. Some students prefer on a silent medium like the library,
some students prefer to be with friends and study on an environment with noises
around them.
13.Health- the health of a learner affects the learning abilities like having problems
on their eyesight, sensitive skin allergies, asthma, fractured bone, and other
health status. Some students can enjoy the physical activities and some are not
because of their health status like difficulty in breathing, asthma, and some may
have heart problems.
14. Differences on account of sex- the interests and abilities of girls vs. boys are
included in this. Girls abilities like having good writing skills, but boys have bad
writing skills. Girls can more focus on studies, while boys much more focus on
playing mobile games. However, these things are stereotyping. For me, other boys
are smarter to other girls and most of the boys can draw and have good writing
skills. Anyway, this was based on my learning experiences in the past.
