Team Charter for Team Two Lords Two Ladies

Module 2 Assignment 2.5

(Used with permission from The George Washington University, Graduate School of
Education & Human Development) Revised 10/7/2020

You may change the format as the team decides but please do make sure that the key issues
are addressed. Be specific!

You should think critically about what you should be addressing in each section, making
notes in preparation for this assignment meeting. During the meeting, your team will write
the policies and procedures you all plan to follow. This is an important document that will,
through the discussion you have about it, as well as what you end up writing down,
establish the ways in which your team will operate. The goal is not to rush through to get it
done but to use the assignment to establish the team norms.

The Submitter will set up the Google doc using this template and distribute to all team
members. The Submitter will also submit the final version of this charter to the assignment
for the team.

1. Purpose: clearly define the purpose of the team. The purpose of the team is
distinct from the individual goals of the team members.

The purpose of our team is to bring interdependent points of view to achieve

specified, shared, and valued objectives.

2. Team Member Goals: List the primary area/behavior that each individual team
member wants to improve on during this course.

Jay:To improve my ability to deal with confrontation. However I doubt there will be
any confrontation with this awesome team.
Christina: utilize each team member's strengths
Salma: Give effective and constructive feedback
Keith: Be more comfortable with participating and sharing over zoom meetings

3. Roles: clearly identify any additional roles established by the team and any
changed duties from the course list of roles and describe how the roles will be
decided, remembering to rotate each meeting or by each module.
Roles will be rotated following our original roster. Due to the low number of team
members, we combined the jokester and submitter into one role.

4. Expectations: clearly and specifically define expectations and measurable

behaviors in each area. Processes when these expectations are not met are
addressed below in Policies.

Communication (outside of scheduled meetings):

● A group text has already been created and will be the primary source of
communication outside of scheduled meetings.
● Email will also be utilized for outside communication.
● Google Drive will also be used.
● Acknowledge receipt of any outside communications as soon as possible
(maximum, within a day)

Communication and Participation (during meetings):

● Everyone is expected to participate equally in all meetings and this has been
agreed upon already
● Treat others ideas and opinions with respect.
● Keeping confrontations to a minimum
● Always keep your mic and your camera on unless there are distractions
● Expectation would be to elaborate on each subject matter

Preparation for meetings and assignments:

● Each team member is responsible for their own individual work, and will
notify the team if there are any issues with tardiness.
● Notify team in advance on future time constraints
● Come to meeting prepared with specified notes, assignment, agenda, etc. ready

Keeping track of team documents/notes/etc:

● Google drive
● Check off when assignment are completed on shared Google Doc so other team
members are aware

Other: No other issues at this time. This will be updated at a later time if necessary.
5. Policies: define policies as well as corrective actions for failing to meet expectations
including missed meetings, inadequate preparation for meetings, and inadequate or
inappropriate participation in meetings. You can also include rewards for going
above and beyond duties.
Corrective Actions:
○ The team will bring any issues to the attention of the offender and will allow
adequate time for correction by the individual and provide notice of
completion to team members when done
○ If team members miss a meeting, they will need to watch the recording and
let the team know once done and if they have any questions or ideas they
want to add
Rewarded Actions:

○ If there is an individual that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the team
will recommend extra credit be given to this individual.

NOTE: The limitations on what you can put in the team charter are in the instructions
for Module 2, Assignment 2.5

Missed meetings: Members cannot make up missed interview (Module 5) or

missed sharing of teammate assessments (Module 6) meetings. For other
meetings if absence is approved by Dr. Chanley, team members can earn up to
75% of the available 50 points for one (1) missed meeting. Define what
actions that team member needs to complete and how those actions will
be documented for the team. The team verifies required action was
taken to Dr. Chanley.

● What are members expected to do if they do not come to meetings

fully prepared and how will any required action be documented to

team and to Dr. Chanley?
○ As soon as they complete the tardy/missing assignment, they
will let the team know via text that the assignment is completed
and initial the google doc with a date of completion.
○ The team member is still expected to provide feedback and
ideas during the meeting.

What other behaviors or problems do you want to specifically address.

These can be combined into as many distinct policies as the team
prefers.

○ Inappropriate behavior will first be brought to the attention by

the team and if further action is needed, will be brought to the
attention of Professor Chanley

6. Operations: describes the processes the team uses to function.

i. Decision Making: indicate when and how the team will make decisions

-Decisions will be made by a team vote during a Live Zoom meeting.

-Decisions will be voted on ASAP on a case by case basis.

ii. Conflict Resolution & Problem Solving: explain how the team will handle
internal conflict and overcome barriers and obstacles

-Conflicts will be resolved by openly discussing the issues

-Address issues immediately
-Other team members can act as mediators to conflicted members

iii. Process Improvement Procedures: explain how the team will monitor,
implement, and track improvements to team process

-The team will monitor improvements by reviewing the process of the team
from one meeting to the next.
-Self and team assessments.
-Keep track of measurable criteria in our Google Doc.
iv. Changes to and use of the Charter: indicate how revisions will be made as
the team evolves and how the team will insure that they reflect back to the
team charter periodically through the remainder of the course.

-Changes to the team charter will be made only if deemed necessary in order
to improve the team.
-Team will decide during the assignment discussion meeting if any changes
need to be made to the charter.
-Any changes made to the Charter will be marked with a date stamp.

7. Timeline and Project Plan: detail how the team will keep track of due dates and
assignment instructions. This is about the process for keeping track not about what
the due dates specifically are.

-The team will briefly discuss a timeline during each scheduled meeting. If an
emergency arises, the use of the group text will be used.
-We will create a Google Doc specifically for our team that indicates
notes/assignments and there will be a checking off system to ensure each assignment
is completed

8. Shared Accountability: “sign” and date agreement (each team member).
