Nurse and Nursing
For centuries nurses have heloed the care for sick and injured people. the word
“nurse” comes from the latin word ‘nutrire” which means “to nourish” that is, to give food
to someone in order to keep him well and alive.

Nursing career of service and dedication. It is a career that demands intelligence, a

sense of responsibility, friendliness, patience, and an awareness of feeling of others, In
return, a dedicated nurse will get the deep satisfaction of helping people in need and
sharing closely in the joys and sorrows of others.

Because dealing with life and death situation, nurse must be accurate and watchful
and mut use good judgement. They must really care for people and be willing to help them.
People who are ill may feel alone and afraid, a nurse can give them confidence. Nursing is a
lifetime career. No matter how many times their working life is interrupted, nurse can
ussually go back to nursing, Either full-time or part-time. This has a special advantage for
nurse who marry and have children. More than two thirds of all nurses through out the
world are married.

In the hospital, nurses are part of a health team that works together to give patients
the best possible care. The team include doctors, laboratory technicians and other member
of the hospital staff. Hospital nurses have to carry out plan of nursing tasks for each patients
based on the medical plan given by the doctor. A skilled nurses continuously watches and
judges the patien’s condidition and needs.

Nurses today learn skills that were unknown in any other age, modern nurses must
understand the effect of powerful drugs. They must care patients who have had the most
delicate surgery. They must operate complicated mechines needed in the treatment of
diseases. They must have an understanding of mental health in order to help people deal
with the worries and fears that sometimes keep them from getting well.
