the computer, its application programs, hardware components, output devices, and
functionality.
GUI- Graphical User Interface
CANVAS - provides a container for the pieces and parts that make up your drawing to
help organize your drawing objects.

LET’S STUDY
Krita is an application software program that
creates digital illustration and digtal animation.
It (usually pronounced /ˈkriːtə/ KREE-tə) is a
free and open-source raster graphics editor
designed primarily for digital painting and 2D
animation. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux,
Android and Chrome OS.

DOWNLOADING KRITA
For Chrome Tablet and Android Phone:
1. Find Krita in the playstore
2. Proceed to download
For desktop/laptop

1. Go to https://krita.org/en/download/krita-desktop/
2. Proceed to following instructions for downloading

OPENING A NEW FILE IN KRITA:

• Recent Documents – Open a
previously opened document.
• Create from Clipboard-Create a new
document Based off what is stored in
your clipboard data.
• Animation Template- This template
is used to make Japanese-style
animation.
• Comic Template – Contains
common templates for creating
comics or manga.
• Design Templates – Contains film
and web design templates.
• DSLR Templates – Contains common camera templates.

INTERFACE: The interface is broken into functional areas. The blank area in the
middle is called the canvas area. When you create or open a document, the canvas
area will be filled with your working document.
A–

Traditional File or action menu found in most windowed applications.

B – Toolbar - This is where you can choose your brushes, set parameters such as
opacity and size and other settings.
C – Sidebars for the Movable Panels/Dockers. In some applications, these are
known as Dockable areas. Krita also allows you to dock panels at the top and/or
bottom as well.
D – Status Bar - This space shows the preferred mode for showing selection i.e.
marching ants or mask mode, your selected brush preset, Color Space, image size
and provides a convenient zoom control.
E – Floating Panel/Docker - These can be “popped” in and out of their docks at any
time in order to see a greater range of options. A good example of this would be the
Preset Docker or the Palette Docker.
CANVAS When you create a new document
in Krita for the first time you will see a
rectangular white area. This is called a
canvas. You can see it in the image on the
right. The area marked by a red rectangle is
a canvas.
DOCKERS : Dockers are little subwindows
in Krita’s interface. They contain useful
tools, like the color selector, layer stack, tool
options, and others. They are designed to
help you pick colors, manage layers, and
adjust tool options.
