From students to workers

Introduction

The purpose of this report is to present the current situation of the necessary student's skills after
they leave college, highlighting existing weaknesses employers detect in the daily work. Afterward,
it will provide some recommendations to help students improve their adaptability to the working
life and make sure they'll succeed.

Current situation

To do an accurate assessment of the current provisions at schools, thus was necessary to interview
employers. The first exciting number that jumps out Is that 75% of the students find a job before
graduation, giving the first impression that technical skills are solid. In contrast, co-curricular
activities detonate communication and creativity skills development; consequently, just 15% of
graduates get a promotion in the first three years after graduation. Finally, we have found 40% of
the graduates feel that being exposed to similar job experiences were very valuable to jump from
academic to working life smoothly.

Recommendations

This part of the report's main idea is to provide the student a smoother transition between school
and work; this change can be shocking for some students.

 Encouraging students to enroll in extra-academic activities during their student life will be
crucial for soft skills development.
 Interviewed employers emphasized technical skills and knowledge from graduates are
impressive. Although, they suggested that expose students to different forums would
improve communication skills.
 Critical thinking is taking an essential role in the mindset among employees and seems to
be very powerful in solving problems with high complexity.
