GIYATA PRIMARY CURRENT INJECTION 3 PHASE

INTRODUCTION
GIYATA Primay Current Injection tester suitable for use in the field or laboratory, Primay Current
Injection tester is applied in the power system for current protection system tests and transformer
tests. Current injection test sets produce high current from the power supply to simulate current or
fault current assessed in the main circuit of electrical equipment.

Features :

1. Output Current continuously adjustable to 100 A 3 Phase.

2. High current output injected to the main circuit of power line to simulate the fault current.
Then check whether the protection system will be operated according to the design.
3. High current output injected to the primary of current transformer and then measure the
inducted current from secondary, by error measurement instrument to check the ratio error
and phase displacement of CT.
4. Removable line cord.
5. Rotary switch selection simplifies operation.
6. Easy to read LCD meters.

GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

CAUTION

HIGH VOLTAGE

This equipment is capable of producing POTENTIALLY DEADLY VOLTAGE! Improper

operation may create injury or death to the operator or surrounding personnel

The operation of High Voltage test equipment should only be performed by personnel familiar
with HIGH VOLTAGE testing and safety procedures. The operator of this equipment must be
aware of all hazards associated with High Voltage testing. The operator is responsible for
himself and others in close proximity of the testing area.

Following are some general safety practices for working with high voltage test equipment listed
below your reference :

• Understand the use of your instrument before doing the actual test.

• Know your work area, check if all current circuits are connected closed and locked.

• Never work alone, always work with another qualified worker.

• Marking entire work area with barriers and warning tape.

• List all personnel aware of your testing activities

• Be aware of conditions that may arise from energizing the test object

• Do not modify the test equipment, modifying the equipment may cause the unknown
dangers hinder the safety features designed.
• Do not operate damaged equipment. remove the power, and do not use the equipment
until safe operation can be verified by trained personnel.

Control and HV Unit :

1. Display measure Output Current of test set (Pic.1)

2. MCB between Phase Output (Pic.1)
3. Switch For measurement Output current (Pic.1)
4. Regulator this control must be in a full counter clockwise position (zero start).
Regulators should always be returned to zero after completion of using the Primary
Current Injection (Pic.1)

ELECTRICAL SET UP
1. Connect the safety (grounding) to the test equipment (Pic.2)
2. Connect Primary cable from HV unit bushing to test specimen (Pic.2).
3. Make sure the supply 3 Phase to be used is appropriate and not reversed between
phase to neutral.
4. Connect cable supply to socket HV unit.

OPERATION INSTRUCTION
Caution: This equipment should only be operated by personnel familiar with high voltage
testing and safety procedures. Improper operation may result in injury or death and can cause
damage to the unit or test object

1. Make sure the power supply has been measured

2. Check that the Regulator Control dial is set to zero start position
3. Turn swicth to ON position, display the measurement of electric current
4. Turn MCB Outout Current to ON position.
5. Increase the electric current (Regulator) step by step slowly to the desired level
6. If needed, you can use the clamp ampere as a comparison to adjust the digital
measurement value on GIYATA PRIMARY CURRENT INJECTION 3 Phase
7. Record data
8. Lower the regulator control to zero position after testing is complete
9. Turn MCB Outout Current to OFF position.
10. Turn swicth to OFF position
