The development of home working may be attractive to employees, but to some
people the idea that such working practices give people freedom is an illusion. They quote
the negative aspect of these practices to the workers, namely the social impact of people
working alone and the increased costs of having to pay for heating, lighting and equipment.
In the latter case, the costs can be considerable in both hot and cold climates, and if
essentials such as computers or telephones break down. This situation benefits companies,
because less office space is needed, thus reducing costs for employers.

museums in a European country in two separate years.
Overall, it is clear that half of the museums experienced a rise in their funding and
half a decline. While for the Museum of the Ancient World the amount of money fell from
20 per cent of the total budget to 15 per cent, a 25 per cent drop, the Museum of Medieval
Art was given a 25 per cent increase in funding from 20 per cent to 25 per cent of the total.
The proportion of funding allocated to both the Natural History Museum and the Transport
Museum also went up from 10 per cent to 15 per cent and 5 per cent to 10 per cent,
respectively.
By contrast, the funding for the Technology Museum accounted for 15 per cent in
2000 against 10 per cent in 2010, a fall of one-third whereas the National Museum saw only
a reduction of one-sixth of its funding as this decreased from 30 per cent to 25 per cent.
