Software Piracy

software piracy is when you copy a program for yourself without paying for it - software is pretty
easy to copyright because it is a specific pattern with patented chips and it is easy to track how
many times it is used usually they take your personal information to keep track of who has
payed for it some pirating sites haven’t been shut down because they believe and work for
equitable public access for those that can’t afford the software copyright law also aknowledges
the purpose of free education and free access for all people to have the possibility to create
their own version of original artwork and creative expression to contribute society’s great
purpose.

Software piracy is nothing but stealing some paid software or in common cracking the software
for which if we need to buy it original we need to pay some price. SoSo some people copy it or
create multiple duplicate and sell pirated version for small amount or sometimes free.

How does software piracy work?

Software piracy can be done by methods such as copying, downloading, selling, sharing, or even
installing multiple copies of software. When a piece of software is not free and you are installing
it multiple times, more than the license permits, you are breaking the law. Here are some forms
of software piracy:

 Using unlicensed copies of software

 Offering access to more users than the number of users permitted in the license
agreement
 Duplicating downloaded software to imitate a copyrighted product
 Loading unauthorized software copies on the hardware you sell
 Downloading unauthorized software copies from the Internet
 Distributing software on other channels than the ones authorized by the license
 Making and sharing copies of installation CDs
 Sharing login credentials used to access web applications without authorization

According to Microsoft, Software piracy is the mislicensing, unauthorized reproduction and

illegal distribution of software, whether for business or personal use.

Pretty much any software can be pirated, short of those put in public domain for free use and
distribution.
So for examples, just think of any software you or someone you know bought. Then think of
someone using that same software they acquired without paying. They are using pirated
software. Art programs, music programs, games, etc.. are pIn short, there are 2 different forms of
piracy. That is, from both ends. The person that allows someone to make copies of software they
legally own, is pirating. The person that takes that software without paying for it is also pirating,
by receiving the software.

Every piece of software has a license with it that specifies how it is to be used. If the license is
freeware or shareware, then it is free to copy and share. If it is not, then it is not free to copy or
share. Only the person who owns the license (paid for it) is authorized to use it.
