PREPARING FOR WHAT TO EXPECT?

ORIENTATION WEEK
O’ Week consists of an online introduction to MIT Sydney and its
(O’ WEEK)
services inlcuding online enrolment sessions this trimester, in an
effort to cater to students in Australia and abroad.
Orientation session for Day 1 will be held ONLINE VIA ZOOM.

You will receive the Zoom invite to the Orientation Session via
email. Please check your junk and spam folders in case you do not
receive this e-mail by 1st November 2021.
After the orientation session, you will receive instructions on how

to complete your enrolment via e-mail. Follow the instructions in
the e-mail to complete your enrolment online.

ACTIVATING YOUR MIT ACCOUNTS
All students at MIT have access to the Academic Management System
(AMS) & Moodle. You will continuously use both of these platforms
throughout your student life at MIT so it’s important to learn how to
use them properly when you start.
You will receive your username and password prior to orientation

via email. If you have not received your login details by Monday 1st
November 2021. Please contact the IT Service Help Desk at:

WHAT CAN AMS & MOODLE DO?

The AMS is your primary point of access to everything including
Moodle. You can use AMS and Moodle for the following:

Once you have access, you can start setting up your MIT student
email and explore Moodle. After logging in to Moodle, you should
be able to see the following pages under the “My Courses” tab:

For the purposes of orientation we will be looking at the

“Orientation Shell”. The Orientation Shell is an invaluable resource
for new students. On it you will find video presentations from
each department at MIT. The videos will explain what services each
department and contain course information from the Heads of
Schools and Course Coordinators.

ORIENTATION SESSION ON MONDAY, 8TH NOVEMBER 2021.
PREPARING FOR DAY ONE
When you have finished watching the video presentations on

the Orientation Shell, you will be ready to attend the live online
orientation session. The live online orientation session is held on
MONDAY 2:00PM (AEST), 8TH NOVEMBER 2021.
You can attend the live orientation session via the Zoom link that
will be emailed to you.
If you cannot access to the Zoom link please contact your

Student Administration and Experience Officer immediately at
studentservices.syd@mit.edu.au and they will provide you the
Zoom link.

O’WEEK SCHEDULE DAY ONE SCHEDULE
The Orientation Session will be held on Monday 8th November

2021 at 2:00pm Australian Eastern Standard Time ONLINE VIA
ZOOM. It is mandatory for all commencing students to attend
this session.
You will need to join the orientation session via the Zoom link sent
to your email address. Alternatively, you can contact your Student
Administration and Experience Officer at studentservices.syd@
mit.edu.au and they will send you the invite if you can’t access
the Zoom link.
In this session you will be greeted by the Campus Director and

introduced to the MIT Community, its culture and values. You
will learn about what we have to offer as an institute and all the
necessary information that new students must know.
All students must attend this session online. You do not have
to come to campus .

O’ WEEK DAYS 2-5 LEARNING ABOUT YOUR PROGRAM

AND ENROLLING IN YOUR COURSES
Day 2 of O’ Week is dedicated to academia. On this day you will

learn about the academic support services provided by MIT and
meet your lecturers and faculty members. You must attend Day
2, and attend the program overview and advice session before
attempting to enroll in your program.
Days 3, 4 and 5 of O’ Week are dedicated to enrolling in your

courses. Once you have attended your program overview session
you may complete your enrolment by logging into my Student
Center. You can follow the instructions in the Federation University
Enrolment Guide for new students.
If you need further assistance, please book a personal enrolment

help session with us. We will provide you with a link closer to the
date for you to book an appointment.
If you still have questions regarding enrolments, please contact

This workshop is an introduction to volunteering. Run by the Centre of Volunteering here in

Sydney, this workshop will cover topics including:
• What is volunteering and what is a volunteer?

• The benefits of volunteering
• The rights and responsibilities of volunteers
• The rights and responsibilities of organisations that engage volunteers
• What you should consider when looking for a volunteer role
• How to find a suitable volunteer role
• Volunteering opportunities
This workshop will be delivered in face to face at the Centre for Volunteering. In line with
current Government and Health restrictions the Centre is committed to ensuring the
safety of all staff and visitors.
All visitors are required to sign in prior to entering the Centre on the Services NSW –
Covid Safe App, advised to maintain safe social distances and follow the personal hygiene
