A strong emphasis is placed on competence, experience and training of all employees of StrataCrete.
Our highly mobile shotcrete crews are overseen by experienced shotcrete supervisors.
StrataCrete supervisors are certified work place trainers and assessors which, combined with our comprehensive
training program, allows StrataCrete to be at the forefront of training within the industry. StrataCrete also has an
EFNARC accredited examiner authorised to carry out examinations for EFNARC certification.
All site personal are trained in the following as a minimum:
• First Aid
• Risk Assessment and JSEA
• Proactive safety initiatives such as See Stop Control and Safe Behaviour Observation

This infrastructure of experienced personal has provided StrataCrete with best practice methodology and a training
program based on many years of experience in shotcrete application in mining and tunnelling projects.

ALBY LONCARIC
Managing Director of StrataCrete / East Coast Operations Manager
Certified EFNARC Examiner with 30 years of concrete and shotcrete experience.
Commenced concrete pumping and spraying in 1982. Sprayed at various mines including
Enterprise Mine, Argyle Diamond Mine, North Parkes , Elura and McArthur River; also
sprayed in coal mines and civil projects . Sprayed refractory concrete for Kiln lining. Set up
independent shotcrete contracting business (StrataCrete) in 1997. Experienced in
shotcrete project justification and implementation, operations review and audit, shotcrete
training, research and development.

MATT CALDERWOOD
Director of Shaftlining Australia / West Coast Operations Manager for StrataCrete
20 years of mining & shotcrete experience at various sites across Australia including
Olympic Dam, Leinster Nickel Operations & Ridgeway Gold Mine . Matt manages Shaft
Lining Australia which provides remote shotcrete application, robotic rock bolting &
resin injection services. Established in 2011, the company has safely supported in
excess of 20 shafts using specialised Australian made technology

Health , Safety, Environment & Training Officer (HSET)
Diplomas in Occupational Health and Safety, Transport and Distribution (Road Transport)
and Frontline Management, Cert IV Training/Assessment.
Been with Stratacrete since November 2011, managing and improving our Health, Safety,
Environment, Training and Quality systems. 8 years mining experience
Previously with Toll Mining Services for 4 years and the Army for 25 years.

KEVIN DICKIE
Project Manager
Kevin has been working in the concrete industry for around 29 years with the last 20 of
those years working with shotcrete . Kev started with StrataCrete in 2005 at the Cadia
Valley Operation in Orange, NSW. Starting off first as an AGI driver then Nozzleman and
shortly thereafter was offered the role of Project Manager for that contract & now he
oversees 3 of our current projects. Kev is also a Certified Trainer & Assessor

HEALTH AND SAFETY

StrataCrete is committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of the working environment for its staff,

QUALITY

StrataCrete has developed a strong quality ethic throughout its

operations. Our Quality Management System has been established
to meet the requirements of the International Quality Standards
AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008. Being accredited to this standard since 2010.

The StrataCrete quality management system is concerned with:

 Delivering operational processes in a timely and high quality
manner.
• Ensuring that it has the capacity to meet the requirements of any contractual obligations.

TRAINING

ShotcretePlus, forms part of the StrataCrete Group. ShotcretePlus is able to offer various levels of Nationally
Recognised Training Packages linked to the Resources and Infrastructure Industry (RII). StrataCrete was the first
company in Australia to offer their training package to other companies, wanting to ensure their employees were
competent in the use of underground shotcrete equipment and Shotcreting operations. ShotcretePlus has now
taken over this training and can offer certified work place trainers and assessors, which combined together with our
comprehensive training program, allows ShotcretePlus to be at the forefront of training within the industry.
ShotcretePlus also has EFNARC accredited examiners, authorized to carry out examinations for the EFNARC
certification for both Nozzlemen and Examiners.

BATCHING & DELIVERY

Shotcrete batching on site has become an important element of the shotcreting process. It reduces the costs for
shotcreteing and allows companies to develop new processes and designs to reduce the application costs of
shotcrete. StrataCrete works with its clients to ensure that the design, equipment and processes suit the
environment the fibrecrete or concrete is required. As part of our quality management we have clear written plans
that set the standards for; Product and Process, Materials, Mix Performance, Supplier Standards, Testing,
Specifications, Responsibilities, Rectification and Records.

All new mix designs are be trailed in a timely manner such

that test results are received before the mix is used for
construction. Three sets of samples are collected for each
trial mix for strength testing at 7, 14 and 28 days. Only
approved mix designs shall be used for construction.

SHOTCRETE APPLICATION

StrataCrete has been providing shotcreting services to the Mining and Civil industries since 1999 by way of
Shotcrete application, Management, Training and Research & Development.
We have also been closely involved in influencing the development of the shotcreting industry, through actively
participating in associations such as the Concrete Pumping Association of Australia Inc. (CPAA) and also through the
many papers and presentations produced i.e. ‘Shotcrete Thickness Measuring Using Modern Technology’, ‘Sprayed
Concrete Nozzle Operator Training and Certification’ and ‘Economic Mix Design Enhancements for FRS’ to name a
few.
StrataCrete utilizes locally built equipment, designed and
manufactured in Australia. This allows us to be intimately involved in
Research & Development of latest equipment technologies as well as
able to source parts and equipment at short notice. This has led to our
equipment having exclusive OEM modifications to suite our demands
based on Safety and Performance.
StrataCrete has also been recognised for the high standard of the
shotcreting work it does by winning the 2013 Outstanding International
Shotcreting Award presented by the American Shotcrete Association
(ASA) for the shotcreting throughout the Cadia East Project.

DEPTH MEASURMENT

The ShotcretePlus ‘Depth Indicator System’ has been trialled with

great success at StrataCrete sites. Shotcrete Depth Indicators
(SDI) are used to assist with the control of shotcrete thickness
whilst applying sprayed concrete. They are designed to be installed
without placing personnel beneath unsupported ground.
ShotcretePlus will provide the cylinder and relevant attachments.
A JSEA can also be made available for review to address the ‘tap in’
to the existing hydraulics and alteration to the boom assembly. Site
trial - senior operators can be available to work several shifts with
the operators installing the indicators in the development
cycle.
The Shotcrete Depth Indicators (SDI) have allowances for a
shotcrete depth of 50, 75 or 100mm and shotcrete can be applied within minutes of installation.
ShotcretePlus are currently trialling new cone and washers colours to improve visibility of the remaining
washer after shotcreting is complete

REMOTE SHAFTLINING

Shaft Lining Australia provides robotic ground support solutions for both the civil and mining industries.
Using intelligent design and advanced robotics, the company strives to provide autonomous ground
support in view to eliminating personnel exposure when working in shaft excavations.

StrataCrete operates a range of equipment for specialist and general

shotcreting and concrete pumping needs.

Our equipment utilises robotic booms mounted on highly mobile and

compact carriers, together with high output concrete pumps.
All spray units are remotely operated and have a 360° rotating heads
with telescopic booms.

Most spray units can be detached from the pump unit for operations in
hazardous or difficult access areas.

A high-reach shotcrete unit is available for spraying in open pit and civil
construction projects. This rig can also be converted to boom pump for pumping concrete when required.
