Sexual harassment can include calendars with depictions of scantily clad or unclad persons of either gender as the
subject, graffiti, or other sexually suggestive or offensive materials, as well as unwelcome sexual advances, requests
for favors, and other verbal or written communication, or physical conduct of a sexual nature, when:
(a) submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of an individual’s job;
(b) submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as a basis for decisions affecting such
individual; or
(c) such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s work performance or
creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment.
Any seafarer who believes he/she is being sexually harassed by a supervisor, co-seafarer or vendor must complain
directly to the department head, HR Director or ship’s Captain or:
A seafarer does not have to, is not expected to and should not tolerate any such conduct. Every seafarer who
observes another engage in such conduct or believes he/she has suffered such conduct has an obligation to report
such conduct and will not be subject to any discipline for doing so.
CCL will not tolerate harassment by anyone. Likewise, it will not tolerate fraudulent claims of harassment, including
sexual harassment. Persons guilty of unlawful harassment will be subject to discipline up to and including discharge.
