The New Neighbor

One day in San Imus Village, there was a girl named Girlie who just moved in
with her parents. Her dad was destined to work in a factory branch here in the village.
Girlie was a bright, cute 6 year old girl with a little gap on her front teeth. While her
parents are busy moving the furniture, she saw a girl who was also the same age as her
playing with a doll who has only one eye. She ran to her and decided to make friends
with her. Girlie was surprised after seeing that this girl named Diana has a white-colored
eye on the right side same as the doll she was playing with. Girlie said hello to Diana
but Diana was frightened and hurriedly ran back inside her house slamming her door.

The next day, Girlie learned that Diana’s right eye was blind ever since birth.
Diana is living with her grandma and her mother was working overseas. Girlie decided
to bring out her doll and play with Diana. After knocking on Diana’s door, Grandma let
Girlie inside. Ever since then, Diana and Girlie grew closer to each other and would play
frequently at Diana’s house or at their backyard.

One day while the two friends are playing in the garden, there came three girls
about their age riding a bicycle and stopped. Diana became pale and suddenly became
scared. The girl in a dress with a pony-tailed hair suddenly grabbed and took Diana’s
doll. The girl laughed at what she saw. “Wow! She looks just like you! A weird blind
monster freak!” The other girls laughed. Diana was on the verge of crying when Girlie
stood up and took the doll back to Diana. Girlie took the water gun toy which she and
Diana always play with and shoot it to the mean girls. The girls ran back to their bikes
and drove away.

Girlie said, “Don’t cry. Your doll’s safe.” Diana answered, “aren’t you scared of
me?”

“What’s there to be scared about? You’re pretty and you have lovely eyes just
like my grandma. My grandma was kind and caring. She would always laugh and play
with me frequently. Despite of her eyes, I love her and she’s the best friend I’ve ever
had just like you.”

Diana cried at Girlie’s reply. She realized that she gained a true friend who sees
her as a normal kid and sees the beauty inside her. From then on, Girlie and Diana
became best friends.

Moral Lesson: A true friend accepts who you are and would judge less.
