PA Early Learning Standards Themes
Fire Safety and Fall
Approaches to Learning:
We will help children learn how to function in a group, relate Letters: All
positively to others, and solve problems peacefully. Whenever
possible we will allow the children to solve the problems
Numbers: 1-10
independently.
Creative Thinking and Expression: Shape: Triangle
The children will be dancing to music. They will also be fire finger
painting, apple painting, collages, and free art. Color: Orange and Black
Mathematical Thinking:
During the month they will play counting games, shapes, patterns, Birthdays
and sorting. Luna will be 5 on October 4th
Wesley will turn 4 October 9th
Karson will be 5 on October 25th
Scientific Thinking: Izabella will be 4 on October 30th
This month the children will collect and compare leaves along with
watching the final process of our caterpillar turning into a butterfly.
We will also do apple and pumpkin science.

Social Studies:
We will be discussing fire fighters and their jobs and what to do in
an emergency situation. We will also be learning personal
information the children need to know in case of an emergency.

Health, Wellness and Physical Development:

The children will play Red Light, Green Light, and do a Firefighter
workout, relay races, a Spider walk, and the Halloween Pokey.

Language and Literacy Development:

The children will be learning finger plays and songs. Drive the
Fire Truck, The Wheels on the Fire Engine, 5 Little Ghosts, and
I’m a Firefighter.
