Essay 1:

Think of a time when you were dealing with a challenge. How did you handle
that?

“Once, I was getting back home from my school. On my way, I had encountered
violence. It was quite terrifying. I was very mortified and even so, the next day I had
my final exam. When I got home safe and sound, I made decision to not focus on the
traumatizing experience Ii had some minutes earlier and prepare for my morning
exams. And so I did. I applied emotional intelligence, wrote my exams satisfactorily and
then discussed the issue with my family and school teachers and they advised me to
not to go alone always when I back to home from school and to notify police anytime I
see such violence. Good news, I had no such encountering since then.”

Describe an experience or an encounter that challenged previously held

belief or opinion.

When I was much younger, I thought that teachers are all caring and faithful and there
will be no mistake with them and I regarded them as absolute beings. I had special
value and respect for them which is still prevailing in my life. However, this value and
regard I had for all older folks, specifically my teachers, was challenged when I heard
that one of my teachers was caught red handed trying to sexually abuse our young
classmate in his office. This was extremely disturbing for me. I shared this issue for my
mother and she advised me that there are some individuals who may not be good and
trustworthy as expected and commended me that I should fight such wrong doings
regardless of which perpetrator is.
