ACTIVITY # 2

The Leader Tells

First: characterized by the leader using moderate to high amounts of task behavior and moderate tp low
amount of relationship behavior.

Next: the flow of communication is from the leader to the students.

Then: questions posed by the leader are typically focused on clarity.

THE LEADER SELLS

First: maintains decision rights regarding what the students need to be doing, how they should be doing
it and when it needs to be completed.

Next: ample opportunity for discussion of why the task is important and where it fits into the overall
scheme of operation.
Then: actively recognizes the enthusiasm, interest and commitment of the follower for learning and
gaining task-related experience.

THE LEADER ADVISES

First: students might have demonstrated task proficiency but still have some degree of trepidation about
performing it on their own.

Next: it the student is regressing, they are aware they can effectively perform but have lost motivation.

Then: The teacher needs to discuss the students willingness by asking open-ended questions intended to
help the student recognize the source of the performance and generate of viable solution.

THE LEADER DELEGATES

First: it aligns with students that have significant experience performing the task or above expectation.

Next: the flow of communication is from the student to the teacher.

Then: consider that the most inconsistent thing a teacher can do is to treat everybody the same.
