31. Mention any two kinds of cells present in blood and write one function of each. [2]

32. Take a magnesium ribbon and some sulphur powder. Burn the magnesium ribbon.
Collect the ashes formed and dissolve them in water. Now burn sulphur powder. Place a test
tube over the burning sulphur to collect the fumes produced. Add some water to the above
test tube and shake.
Write four balanced equations for these reactions? [2]

33. The figure given below represents the instrument used to check the arterial wall
pressure. [2]
It has an inflatable cuff, a compressible rubber bulb, a screw and a
connected mercury manometer.
a. Mention the instrument used. State the name of another instrument
which is also used.
b. Mention the normal systolic and diastolic pressure of a human being.

35. The image of a candle flame placed at a distance of 30 cm from a spherical lens is
formed on a screen placed on the other side of the lens at a distance of 60 cm from
the optical centre of the lens. Identify the type of lens and calculate its focal length. If
the height of the flame is 3 cm, find the height of its image. [3]

36. Give reason: [3]


a. HCl, HNO3, etc., show acidic characters in aqueous solutions while solutions of
compounds like alcohol and glucose do not show acidic character.
b. Basic solutions also have H+(aq) ions, still they are basic.
c. Caustic Soda is a strong base.

38. A narrow beam PQ of white light is passing through a glass prism ABC as shown in

(ii) Where else in nature is this phenomenon observed?
(iii) Based on this observation, state the conclusion which can be drawn about the
