Discuss the how Business Continuity Planning (BCP) is different from Disaster Recovery Planning

(DRP).

Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) refers to having a strategy in place and the capacity to

restore data in the event of a disaster. The disaster recovery plan is designed to ensure that a

company, particularly its technology department, can recover swiftly and effectively. A DRP is

primarily focused on information technology. A hard drive failure, for example, is a big

disaster that would be addressed in your DRP. However, if you've done your homework and

incorporated this into your Business Continuity Plan, you won't need a separate DRP. A BCP is

more comprehensive than a DRP, which is focused on IT. It entails maintaining the community

bank afloat on a commercial level. Non-IT related issues like as food, facilities and power, are

all included in a well-thought-out BCP. Non-IT events that cause the BCP to be activated

include succession planning, pandemics, and facility damage due to natural or man-made

disasters (Fani & Subriadi, 2019).

Research and find various DRP templates for organizations. Please list a least three examples (e.g.

NIST, MIT and others). Also, analyze and articulate the differences and similarities at least two of

the templates.

Business Impact Analysis Questionnaire Template: These questionnaires are critical because they

streamline the discovery process for business impact analysis, ensure uniformity of questions, and

make it simple to enter answers into an appropriate repository for analysis, such as a spreadsheet.

They can also be customized for certain departments, such as a trading department vs. a human

resources department, to handle specific characteristics. The BIA is often the first step in identifying

risks for business continuity and can aid in the risk assessment process ( Bagnoli, Dal Mas, & Massaro,

2019).
Incident Response Strategy Template: In addition to your usual disaster recovery plan, you should

include an incident response plan. Incidents are circumstances that, if not managed appropriately,

could turn into disasters, and are frequently the first step in recognizing a disaster.

Business Continuity Management Process Template: There are several critical steps in the business

continuity management process. A top goal is getting information to the right people during and after a

crisis.

Which template would you recommend for Wilmington University?

Disaster recovery is the process of preparing a company's security strategy in the event of a major

negative occurrence that puts the university's operations at danger. Hardware failures, staff negligence,

security threats, and natural disasters are just a few examples. University disaster recovery plans (DRP)

are designed to describe policies, procedures, and activities that will help an organization minimize

interruption in the event of a disaster. The DRP's goal is to get the company back to its mission-critical

functions as rapidly as possible.

I recommend Wilmington University start with the Business Impact Analysis Questionnaire Template

while creating its DRP and then progress to other templates like the Incident Response Plan Template or

the Emergency Communication Plan Template. Every tragedy has its own disaster response plan (DRP).

All tragedies should be anticipated by the university.
