Is My Place Free from Covid-19?

dr. Santi is the head of the Public Health Center (Puskesmas) in the Awan Sub-district which is located in
the mountainous area of Teluk Raya District, Sehati Regency. The distance to the capital district is about
75 km and can be accessed through the plantation roads in poor conditions. In addition, this sub-district
is one of the lowest density areas in the district.

Like occurred in other places, Covid-19 is also a health problem in Awan Sub-district. The first case was
detected in 2020 in Awan, however, in the middle of 2021, the number of new Covid-19 cases increases
sharply throughout the district including in Awan Sub-district. Indeed, Since the first Covid case was
reported in Indonesia, prevention efforts have been socialized by the Head of the District Health Service
to all of Puskesmas head such as ensuring health protocol implementation.

Currently, the number of new Covid-19 cases has dropped, dr. Santi observes that people seem to do
the activities, as usual, even the health protocols have often been violated. However, this morning, dr.
Santi was informed that a new confirmed case of Covid-19 had been found with symptoms of fever. The
patient is a resident of Teluk Raya sub-district who works as a civil servant who often works mobile
regularly to the district capital.

The District Head of the Service asked dr. Santi to socialize the tracing, testing, treatment, and self-
isolation in an effort to control the Covid19 spread. The public is also asked to wear masks.
