Bargaining power of Customer : Uber is a ride hailing apps that can offer customer to hail a cab
easier (cut the waiting time, fare already calculated by the app, accept any payment)
Bargaining power of Suppliers : Uber is a technology rich enterprise, In terms of engineering, it has
talented people on-board.
Threat of new entrants : Uber is a ride-hailing apps that based on technology and HR. The new
entrants would need to invest heavily in technology as well as HR. Not only this, the large network of
application usage, marketing efforts, all will require a lot of investment and difficult to imitate.
Threat of Substitutes : Uber can’t be count as unique since there are several players in ride-hailing
industry as well such as Lyft, Grab, Gojek, etc. The threat of substitute is high if Uber can’t
differentiate their services with their competitors.
Industry Rivalry : The industry rivalry for Uber is still high since there are so many loopholes from the
working system and the services being offered to the customer still needs improvement and not to
mention some of their company already consolidated with Grab in certain areas that made Uber
industry rivalry still high.
The value chain primary activities include developing an efficient platform to connect
service-providers with customers, developing features specific to each stakeholder. In
the support activities of the value chain model management oversees sustaining these
systems and updating accordingly
2. WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN INFORMATION
TECHNOLOGY AND UBER’S BUSINESS MODEL? EXPLAIN
YOUR ANSWER.
Technology and Uber’s business model are intertwined. Uber generates money
through transaction made on their app. In order to generate more money, Uber needs
to provide customers with quick connections to drivers. Uber needs to use the data
collected through their app and interpret the data so that they can provide a service
that is more efficient than their competitor.
3. HOW DISRUPTIVE IS UBER?
Uber is heavily disrupt how conventional taxis work but disruptive doesn’t mean
negative since Uber offers something no one came up with and that can be count as
“Innovative”.
4. IS UBER A VIABLE BUSINESS? EXPLAIN YOUR ANSWER.

Uber can be a viable business but there are several things we need to consider first,
Uber needs to solve the problems that related to government regulations. All of their
business activity already designed really well but can be shut down by the
government due to the ignorance of compliance. Second, Uber needs to develop
services/products that can be their specialty which later can be their competitive
advantage.
