Arrival of lecturers and students

Gimmick : Kompang, Bunga Malai

After guests are seated, they are served with tea (tea-ceremony session)

Shamien : Assalamualaikum…

All : And welcome to TESL YOU NIGHT 2014!

I’m Tharshan

I’m Michele,

I’m Ivan

And I’m SHamien,

All : And we are your emcee for today’s event.

Tharshan : A pleasant evening we bid to our Guest of Honour, Head of

Language Department, Madam Mariah Ibrahim, the chairperson of this
TESL YOU NIGHT, Mr Ganesan Kuppusamy, beloved lecturers and last
but not least, members of the TESL FAMILIA

Shamien : Today, we are brought here together as a family to celebrate

unity in our TESL family. Without any delay, we welcome Mr Naqib to
recite a prayer.

Michele : TQ Naqib

Michele : Shamien, do you have any idea why is this event called TESL-
YOU NIGHT?

Shamien : I believe this event is an effort for a majority of us TESLIAN

in this institute, to gather together and mingle with one another.

Ivan : Yes, As you can see Michele, we can see lots of colours in this hall
today. We have people from different cultures, bckgrounds and not to
forget religion and the best part is, we all fall under one roof, the TESL
roof.
Tharshan : So this event is sort of an opportunity for all of us to assemble
and actually be united once a year.

Michele : It is actually great to actually come together as one family, even

though it’s once a year. Do any of you have any idea who’s the
mastermind behind this event?

Ivan : I think I do. Please welcome the man behind this event, Mr
Ganesan to give a few words.

All : Mr G, we welcome you.

Shamien : TQ Mr G. Ivan, why are there coconuts over here?

Ivan : OMG, what are the coconuts doing here?

Michele : You guys, this is for another gimmick. Let’s invite Mr G, and
Madam Mariah to break this coconut and thus mark open this TESL
YOU NIGHT event.

Please be welcomed.

TQ MR G and Mdm Mariah.

Tharshan : Do any of you know what’s the rationale behind cracking

open those coconut.

Ivan : You are welcomed to explain to us the details, Tharshan.

Tharshan :___  Breaking of the coconut represents the breaking of ego,

which is a prerequisite for the attainment of wisdom. Breaking of the ego
results in your mind become as white as the broken coconut and the
water within is the nectar of Divine Knowledge

Shamien : We are so lucky to have you over here Tharshan. That’s the
beauty of being united in diversity. We get to know things from each
culture.

Tharshan : Ditto . Now, let’s proceed with the powerpoint presentation.

Michele : Wow, hey, do you smell something nice?

Shamien : I do. I think food must be ready. ______________

Tharshan : Let’s eat! ________________

Ivan : Wait wait wait. Ladies and gentlemen, since the food is ready, let’s
go grab our dinner! Chalo, khana kijiye.

Michele : Don’t forget, do not cut other people’s queue, Budi Bahasa
Budaya Kita!

ALL : Selamat menjamu selera!

***

Closing : Please add in whatever you guys feel we should have

Ivan : I believe that’s the end of the performances and games for tonight.
We have quite a number of talented people in this family, don’t you think
so Shamien?

Shamien : I do think so. I really enjoyed the various performances. I

wish I could be as talented as them.

Michele : And not to forget our outgoing lecturers.

Tharshan : I hope we gained something tonight.

Shamien : I believe we all do.

Ivan : On behalf of the organizing committee, we thank everyone that

made this event successful.

Michele : We apologise for any slip of tongue whilst we act as the emcee
for today.

Tharshan : And we thank you once more, for realizing this TESL YOU
