I am very excited to apply for a position as a band and orchestra teacher at (School Name). The great strides your music
program has made in these past couple of years is astounding; and I would love to be part of that growth. With my
academic background and experience, I believe I am a great fit for this position.

Music teaching is not new to me. While working on my undergraduate degree at the University of Utah, I was teaching
private lessons. Moreover, I have worked as a music teacher’s assistant for a year and a half. Both of these experiences
helped me to understand the role of a teacher and the responsibilities that come with being a music educator. I have
participated in a couple of orchestras in Utah including the Taylorsville Symphony, the University of Campus Symphony,
and the Utah Philharmonic Orchestra. My ensemble experience has helped me to understand what an ensemble and what
ensemble members needs to be successful. I also had a wonderful student teaching experience. Lastly, gained much
teaching experience from my cooperating teacher at Draper Park Middle School. Specifically, I learned how to manage a
classroom. And I learned how to properly use necessary techniques such as modeling and scaffolding in my classroom. I
believe that my experience could greatly benefit the music program at (School Name). The location of (School Name) is
perfect for me because it is close to where I live. I would have a short commute; but also, I know and understand the
surrounding community very well.

I’m very interested in being a part of a school and district that takes pride in their music program the way (School Name)
does. Throughout my college career, I’ve really grown as a teacher and a musician. However, I understand that that growth
has only begun. I really believe that working at (School Name) is a great next step for me. I look forward to meeting and
