“Ember of Hope”

By Ciara Janine V. Meregildo

My system is on haywire
My precious throat becomes dry
When you’re near, my heart’s on fire
All I can do is to sigh.

An ember of hope ignites

Here in my heart, it shine’s bright
Hoping that you’ll be my light
In this lonely dreaded night.

You’re my rock and my anchor

Forever I’ll love you more
But myself says, “My tears pour”
Look at me, my eyes are sore

My rose with spiky thorns

This fragile heart of mine mourned
For in this world you are born
To not love this girl with horn.
“Parent’s Love”
By Roldan James R. Manalo

For how many years we’ve been together

Guiding and helping to become better
Teaching to be firm and become braver
Hoping that you will live any longer.

Living in this world, you’re my light

Keeping in mind on what is right
Stay here, I will hug you tight
Even for worst of a cold night.

You’re always here when I have flu

What’s good for me, you always do
Facing all crux, you are here too
And all my strength comes from you.

My success is also success of yours

Doing everything just to get this course
I’m happy with this, not being forced
Confident I possessed, you are my source.
