EDUCATION

University of Colorado Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs, CO.

Bachelors of Innovation in Game Design and Development, 2022

PERSONAL STATEMENT

When I was 5 years old, my dad had just uploaded his 18th flash game to the world wide web.

He included in his game a level builder. I was fascinated with this tool and spent a lot of my time

playing with it and making my own levels.

On the morning of April 24, 2011, my dad handed me the book Getting Started with Game

Maker, and told me to go check my computer. On the bottom left of the desktop, there was a

new program: Game Maker 8.1. I spent all of my freetime during the day making my own mini-

games with this tool and everynight I would read through the book.

Flash forward 10 years, I am now a student of game design and development. From studying

basic design and accessibility principles to building a virtual world to releasing a commercial

product, I have become confident in my ability to design and develop video games.

Satoru Iwata, the late fourth president and chief executive officer of Nintendo, once said “If you

do the same thing as others, it will wear you out. Nintendo is not good at competing so we

always have to challenge the status quo by making something new, rather than competing in an
existing market”. As I begin my career, I wish to incorporate Mr. Iwata’s philosophy into my own

projects in order to create new and interesting video games that will stand out in an

oversaturated marketplace and deliver an experience to gamers around the world that will leave

them awestruck, satisfied, and entertained.
