Technical data sheet of Azure® Wick - Quick Finish

Azure® Wick - Quick Finish Product Features

1. Superior moisture management / Wicking property, defined as the ability of the treated fabric to absorb

liquid humidity from the skin, transport it from the inside of a textile to the outer surface and then eventually

release it into the surrounding air.

2. On the treated fabric, dual advantages are achieved, first is the transfer of any water based fluid from the

front side to the backside and the second is complete drying of the front side of the fabric, which leads to

absolutely no discomfort to the wearer.

3. Face side of fabric – absorbs water and wicks it to the back side of fabric - wherein the water spreads to 4 times

it’s surface area ( defined as ‘wicking height’ ), for instantaneous evaporation in milliseconds.

4. The Wicking properties improve after each wash and last for more than 35 washes.

5. Since the Finish imparted is completely breathable and durable, it is ideal as performance apparel to

absorb sweat, and as baby bed protectors, wherein the urine secreted by the baby is wicked onto the backside,

leading to huge savings of single time ‘use and throw’ diaper’s.

 Polar Fleece, made from 100% Polyester is inherently hydrophobic (water

resistant) & thereby has lower water absorption capacity than natural fibers like

cotton. Thus, to make the fabric hydrophilic (water absorbent) it is treated

with our Wick - Quick Finish, which forms a durable polymer film that enables

the fabric to interact readily with water. Post treatment, the fabric’s wicking rate

becomes faster than that of cotton.

o Some of the important advantages achieved from a fabric treated with Wick -

Quick Finish are

 Moisture absorption as well as evaporation capacity, which is commonly

referred to as Moisture Management property or wicking property.

 Rapid Drying to make the skin feel dry

 Good air and water vapor permeability

 Absence of dampness

 Breathability and Lightweight

Testing Methods / parameters

Usually the following test methods are used for checking the Fabric’s hydrophilic property /

wicking strength.

a) The AATCC 79 :2000 (Water Absorbency method)

&

b) Drying Rate Testing ( denoted by the Water Evaporation Rate (WER )

 AATCC 79-2000 testing protocol - A drop of water is allowed to fall from a fixed

height onto the taut surface of a test specimen. The time required for the specular

reflection of the water drop to disappear is measured and recorded as water

absorbency time. The fabric treated with our Wick Quick finish absorbed

water in 22 milliseconds (0.22 seconds)

 The Water Evaporation Percentage shows the tests the drying rate of the fabric on

the face side of the fabric on which water is dropped. Within 10 seconds, the water

is completely evaporated, denoted in the testing protocol as 98% WER, the scale

in which the highest rating is 100%

Recommended users and application:

Athletic sportswear

Baby Bed Protectors, where the hydrophilic portion on the face side wicks liquid on the

backside, which is laminated with Breathable membranes. The result is that any type of

liquid humidity, which can be in the form of urine or watery form of liquid can be wicked

away on the outer surface which is laminated (which protects the bed from getting spoiled)

and the face side fabric which is in contact with the baby’s skin will dry up

instantaneously, which will avoid any discomfort.

 Inner wears

 Performance wear (climbing, walking, skiing)

 Comfort wear (nightwear)

 Military (multi-climate clothing)

 Health (hospital bed linens, wound dressings)

 Agricultural technology (Geo-textiles, greenhouse screening panels, soil moisture

control)

 Industrial (filter & valve technology, building, packaging)

 Upholstery (transport)
