THE STARVING BAKER

This is a common hazard for leaders. We’re like the
baker who spends so much time baking bread for

CHALLENGE
Locate a day on your calendar and dedicate it to personal growth. On that day, create a
plan for personal growth for the next twelve months. Follow the steps below:

1. Choose areas where you want to grow (e.g., financial, leadership, family, or spiritual)
2. Identify resources to learn from (e.g., books, articles, music, mentors, programs)
3. Put specific and regular times to read, listen and learn. Put them on the calendar.
4. Take a notepad to gather thoughts each time you sit down to learn.
5. Locate one new idea or thought and write it on a 3 X 5 card. Keep the card in a
place where you will see it and think about it daily.
6. Talk to someone about it -- your coach, a teammate, a friend.

Attempt to practice or apply one principle you received from that thought or idea.
