-Chapter 8: Expanding Economic Opportunities in Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries. The agriculture, forestry, and
fisheries (AFF) sector is pivotal in generating employment for about a third of the country’s labor force, thereby
reducing poverty and inequality for three-fourths of the poor who are in the rural areas. AFF is also key to
providing raw materials to the manufacturing and service sectors, resulting in forward linkages in terms of higher-
paying and more stable job opportunities. Intensifying efforts to revitalize the AFF and harnessing its growth
potentials are needed to promote more inclusive development. Given the sector’s links to agribusiness,
interventions and investments will be channeled to expand existing opportunities and develop new ones, thus
inducing greater participation of small farmers and fisherfolk.

-The Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022 is the first medium-term plan to be anchored on the 0-10 point
Socioeconomic Agenda and is geared towards the AmBisyon Natin 2040 which articulates the Filipino people’s
collective vision of a MATATAG, MAGINHAWA, AT PANATAG NA BUHAY PARA SA LAHAT. It also takes into account
the country’s international commitments such as the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

 Look for a news article discussing an economic problem or issue. Identify an economic theory,
model, or concept that can be used in analyzing the problem. Discuss how you can use these to
come up with a solution to the problem.

- In 2012, 10 million Filipinos were either unemployed (three million) or underemployed (seven million). In October
2013, unemployment rate was 6.5% in comparison to 6.8% in 2012. According to the Labor Force Survey, the
unemployment rate was 6% and 6.6% in October 2014 and January 2015, respectively.

- POST HOC FALLACY- This fallacy relates to the Latin phrase post hoc ergo propter hoc which
describes how people make the mistaken notion that since a change happened after an event
,then such change was caused by the event that came before it, this fallacy is more evident when
considering certain “superstitious” beliefs.

With these beliefs, it helps me gain manner and have a good attitude. Beliefs helps me to take
care of myself and to avoid things that might jeopardize my life.
