3. After tallying all the
pictures, I will create the
graph for the apple with the
students. I will explain that
they will have to color the
boxes. So, we will color 10
boxes together next to the
apple column.
4. I will gauge student
understanding and if we need
to practice another one, I will
do another column of the bar
graph with them.
5. When I feel like they should
be good on their own, I will
let them work with their
partners to finish the graph
together using their crayon.
During this time, I will walk
around and make sure that
students are understanding
and completing the
assignment correctly.
6. With the remaining time, we
will do the math problems at
the bottom. We will write the
actual number above the
pictures. Students can use
their number lines or the
count-on strategy to help get
their answer!
Assessment:
These objectives will be assessed by student’s completion of the pages. I will also
assess informally based on student’s questions and understanding of the
assignments.
Differentiated Instruction:
Learning Environment: Students will work in partners to complete this activity
Process: I will be very explicit in the instruction of this lesson. I will start by doing
the first bar of the bar graph together, and then I will do one with student help.
Following the GRRM model, then they will do the last few on their own.
Modifications/Accommodations:
Students with LD or who struggle will be given additional support and directions
repeated if needed.
