LA DIMENSIONE TRINITARIA E LA ANTROPOLOGIA/ESCATOLOGIA

“You have made us for yourself, O God, and our hearts are restless until
they rest in you,” said Saint Augustine on his Confessions. Truly, God has made
us, not just for himself but like unto himself thus imprinting in us, not just in our
soul but our entire humanity, the image and likeness of the triune God, Father,
Son and Holy Spirit. The imprint of the Holy Trinity is thus revealed inevitably
first and foremost through our individuality, our subjectivity. Then it must exist
from ourselves to meet the Other and recognize in them their own subjectivity,
forming intersubjective persons, a community which works in Love.
It was love which has united the three Divine Persons from the beginning.
We, on the other hand made from their likeness, have the same identity of
loving the one and the other. As Jesus manifested the face of the Trinity in his
coming, so us Christians, baptized in the name of the Triune God has the
vocation to carry within us in word and deed the image of the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit. This is the newness that the escathon calls us. Christ the King, we
believe shall one day come. But, the coming of our Lord is not just a period of
waiting but it is more a period of action of the building Christ’s Kingdom here
on earth. This we will be able to do through the Love which has animated the
Three Persons and through which we were created.
