Role Description
Roles offered Post Graduate in Management are required for specific tasks in BIS. The
(Description with following tasks are to be assigned as per the skill set of the candidate:
responsibilities)
1. Planning & Coordination (P&C) Department — Planning to the
perspective plan for the whole organization and a robust appraisal
system to assess the progress against well-defined milestones.

2. Service Sector Department (SSD) — To Act as the experts in Services

Sector to set out the standardization activities in India, who will
cover a broad range of activities like development and promotion of
new standards, devising certification process, communication
outreach, increases the effectiveness of BIS amongst other related
bodies in India.

3. National Institute of Training for Standardization (NITS) — NITS, the

training arm of BIS, was set up to meet the growing needs and
expectations of the industry for quality training in the fields of
standardization, quality assurance, management systems, certification,
laboratory testing, etc. NITS has been organizing various types of
training programmes for industry as well as for consumer bodies and
common man. NITS has also been organizing various International
Training Programmes for Developing Countries of Asia, Africa, Europe
and Latin & South America. The programmes are conducted by a team
of well-experienced, qualified and trained faculty.
The incumbent will assist BIS in:
* Formulating the training policy.

* Development of training programs, courses, teaching & learning
materials, etc.
* Identification of domain area expert in server sectors.
* Networking with other academic & training institutions.
* Development of online courses & modules.
* Research in the area of Standardization, Certification and Testing of
Products.
* Any other related activated assigned by the Bureau.

4. Policy, Research & Training Department (PRTD) — 'Policy Research and

Training’ has been created in BIS to Act as the experts in Policy and
Research to set out the policies to be effectively implemented in any
organization, it needs to be supported by vibrant eco-system of eco-system
of research, self-assessment and training. Research, in its various forms,
creates evidence for trying out new ideas and innovation. With an objective
to put in place such vibrant eco-system of research and dynamic policy
formulation as also for orienting the capacity building programme to the
changing need of a dynamic policy regime.

The incumbent will assist BIS in:

* Analysis of existing policies related to various aspects of the functioning of
organization with a view to formulate suitable policy responses to the
emerging challenges.
* Formulation of short term and long term strategy for research in the areas
of standardization and conformity assessment and ether relevant areas for
creating s robust quality ecosystem as envisaged in INSS.
* Formulation of policy regarding action research and implementation thereof.
* Networking and coordination with academic & research institutions to
facilitate the conduct of research.
* Follow up action on the MUs with academic & research institutions.
* Collaboration with national & international bodies conducting research in
the fields of standardization, conformity assessment and other relevant
areas.
* Any other related activated assigned by the Bureau.
