Proposed Title
Software Utilities and Components Hub for General Public and Local Businesses

Area of Investigation The proposed system is to implement a Desktop Application that manages
desktop utility and component software and files in a quick, easy and orderly manner.
The software and language to be used in developing said system are Visual Studio Code
(made by Microsoft) and Python.
Desktop Application means any software that can be installed on a single
computer (laptop or a desktop) and used to perform specific tasks.
Software Utilities and Components Hub is an application manager than mainly
focuses on utilities and components on a Windows PC platform. The proposed system is
to manage utility and components software and files (i.e. vcredist, directx, .net
framework, ps3 bios) by enabling the user to download and manually or automatically
install them through the manager and deleting the installation files by default to save
space and for cleaner installation. This system also notifies if there are updates or new
files added on the site, and also has written and video tutorials for users who chose to
manually install the utility software. This system also has recommendations and
organized by category.
The advantage of this is it makes installation of utilities and components
software and files quicker, easier, cleaner and less complex.
The proposed system will have seven (6) different modules such as Home,
Components, Utilities, Manage, Settings and About.
The Home will show recommendations of components and utilities based on
what you download and your chosen preference setting. It will also show new additions
and sponsored utility apps.
The Components will show components in groups, depending on their use and
relation to each other. The groups will be displayed in a vertical oval box, and can be
enlarged for better view. The components will be shown in an ASCII sort order, and will
have a “download” button on its right side. By clicking the button, it will start a
download process.
The Utilities will show utility software in groups, depending on their use and

relation to each other. The groups will be displayed in a vertical oval box, and can be
enlarged for better view. The utilities will be shown in an ASCII sort order, and will have
a “download + install” button on its right side. By clicking the “download + install
button”, two buttons will appear below it, namely “manual install” and “automatic
install”. By clicking either of them, it will start a download process, and send an
instruction to the Manage tab depending on what the user chose.
The Manage tab will include a Download/Update and Library section. In the
Download/Update section, the top part will show all the downloads happening at the
time, while the bottom one will show which utilities and components (if possible) got an
update. In the Library section, all utilities and components downloaded including the
ones already uninstalled are shown in either ASCII or date of download sort order, giving
priority on downloaded utilities or components.
The Settings tab will only have a single section which includes font settings (font
style and font size), app themes, file location settings, backup settings, update settings
(auto or manual update, if auto is used, update frequency setting is available) and
preferences settings (casual, gamer, business).
The About tab also only have a single section which states things about the
team behind this project, the terms and conditions, disclaimer and Patreon link.
The modules, and software and language to be used are not final and some
changes may occur.
Reasons for Choice of Project The proposed system aims to remove additional steps and room for errors in
the process of installing utility and components software and files, and also allowing the
user have up-to-date version. The system also aims to help both tech-savvy and non
tech-savvy users by making it easier for them to find what they need and install it
cleanly and correctly. The system also aims for the software and their developers to be
more known to the masses
Importance of the Study Helps to ease the learning curve for non tech-savvy users. Allows users to
discover lots of unpopular, yet great utility and component software, which in turn also
helps the developers. Helps the user to be up-to-date with their utility and components
software and files, and give them recommendations based on their needs.
Target Users/Beneficiary The proposed system can be used by both tech-savvy and non tech-savvy users,
and also developers who wants to showcase their utility and component software and
files.

Similarity with any Previous The proposed system had similarities with Adobe Application Manager by
Study/Project Adobe, and Vanced Manager by YT Vanced team. Adobe Application Manager is a
helper application used to manage the installation of many Adobe products. Vanced
Manager is a helper application used to manage the installation of Youtube Vanced,
Vanced (Youtube) Music and Vanced MicroG.
