Criteria 15: (max points = 5)

Rainwater Management

The intent of this criterion is to manage rainwater efficiently such that post-construction storm
water run-off does not exceed the pre-construction run-off.

Points break up acc. To Percentage of storm water run-off managed on-site

Need to Demonstrate the post-construction storm water run-off generated from the site is being
managed within the GRIHA project boundary as per Table 5.4 based on the peak hourly rainfall
(mm/h).

3 important factors to calculate rain water harvesting

• Run off coefficient (like for tiled roof it is 0.75 & for concrete 0.70)
• Rainfall in given area (in mm)
• Surface area of roofs (in sq. Mt)

Annual water supply = run off X rainfall X Area

Requirements: -

• soil percolation test report highlighting the percolation rate of soil of the site.
• calculations using GRIHA rainwater management calculator.
• storm water drainage plan (.dwg format) for the site indicating the location of rainwater
storage tank or/and harvesting pit on-site.
• drawings (.dwg format) depicting cross-section and plan of rainwater storage tank or/and
harvesting pit on-site.
