Prevention

Mr. and Mrs. Reyes had immunization of PCV and TT’s up to second dose. Their daughter
received complete immunization of BCG, OPV up to 3 doses, DPT up to 4 doses, MMR,
and Hepa B. The family uses some herbal plants such as lagundi leaves for cough, boiled
guyabano leaves for pain, inflammation and regulating blood pressure, and malunggay
leaves for preventing cancer and protection against diabetes. They use over the counter
medicines like Paracetamol for fever, Alaxan for body pains, and Decolgen used for relief
of common colds. Mrs. Reyes have maintenance medications of Leflunomide (Arava) and
Voltaren (Emulgel) while Mr. Tanquezon Sr. have maintenance medications of Lisinopril and
Losartan.

According to Mrs. Reyes, the family usually sleeps around 9 in the evening and wakes up
around 5 in the morning. She stated they eat vegetables and fruits to prevent from getting sick
easily. She also stated she and her husband have no proper routine to regular exercise and the
only exercise she can pinpoint is walking, in which she walks going to work. On the other
hand, Mr. Asberto E. Tanquezon, Sr. jogs every morning and spends 1 hour for this
activity, he then water his plants and feeds their pets while Ms. Alyssa Mae engages in
regular exercise in which she spends 30 minute for this type of activity thrice a week.
Watching television and browsing in the internet are the common relaxation of the family.
Mr. Bernard Paul Tanquezon stated he is an alcohol drinker since in his mid-20s and usually
consumes (2-3 bottles of 1 liter of beer thrice per 2 weeks). Her aunt advised him already to
stop drinking alcohol knowing it is bad for his health. Their religion is Roman Catholic and
some of the family members are not active in going to church. The family are aware of the
presence of barangay health center but are not utilizing the services that are offered. The
family members are not having regular hospital checkups and just seek for health
practitioners only with the presence of disease or illness.
